I get the impression, which is strengthened by Sarah’s book, that McCain is kind of a turkey. Sarah ALWAYS speaks favorably of McCain. But it’s clear that he doesn’t really control his campaign. His staff does—and a mysterious HQ that sends down commands from above, which everyone just has to obey.
What is this “HQ”? The RNC? George Soros? Donald Duck? Who on earth knows. But McCain seemed to be perfectly happy letting it tell him what to do.
The early Palin interviews were clearly intended to throw Palin under the train, probably because she was the “Rock Star” and McCain looked like Elmer Fudd by comparison. Either that, or his staff was a special kind of stupid to believe that Couric and the rest would not do anything to trap Palin, while ALWAYS being kind to Obama.
