Florida Trend ^ | January 2010

As Florida Republicans struggle to define their future, a towering figure from the past has returned to call the shots. Former Gov. Jeb Bush retreated from the public spotlight when he left office in 2006, becoming almost reclusive. But in the last six months, Bush, revered by the party's conservative base, has reasserted his influence and is helping remake the state's political landscape more to his liking. In the process, Bush has dimmed the star of Gov. Charlie Crist.

heh. Speaking as a fan o'Jeb! I think it is not good for people to just dismiss him because of his last name. Jeb! was a heck of a governor, stuck around for 2 terms, and was certainly more conservative than either his dad OR his brother.

we’ve been betrayed twice thinking the next is more conservative than the other, so no presidency for him, maybe a senator or some other job

“While Bush has not formerly endorsed Marco Rubio for the U.S. Senate, his influence in the race has been anything but neutral. Bush chastised national Republicans for siding too quickly with Gov. Charlie Crist, and has personally encouraged Rubio to push ahead. With Bush’s influence, Rubio has cut Crist’s lead in the polls in half.”

If he runs I would vote for him. It is people like you and your attitudes that got us this current administration because you refused to vote for McCain.

I hope this is a prelude to an eventual matchup of Jeb Bush versus the so-called moderate d-RAT, Senator Bill Nelson. Rubio wins in November against the d-RAts sacrificial lamb, a very weak State Senator from South Florida, and Jeb pounds the liberal Bill Nelson in 2012, setting the stage for Jeb’s run for the Presidency in 2018.

I'm not suggesting that Jeb should run for the WH but I will point out that he is his own man. He's not his dad or his brother, Jeb has always been a true conservative. We could do a lot worse.

Bush has dimmed the star of Gov. Charlie Crist.

I think Crist dimmed his own star more than anybody else.
