The U.S. Agency for International Development is sending disaster response teams to Haiti to help the impoverished nation after it was hit by a major earthquake on Tuesday. USAID said in a statement it would be sending teams including up to 72 people, six search and rescue dogs and up to 48 tons of rescue equipment.
The teams will be accompanied by USAID disaster experts...

Well THAT was fast....Zero. Funny how you make a statement IMMEDIATELY about this tragedy.....yet, you wait DAYS after others. Sometimes WEEKS.

I noticed that also. Quick with the condolences for Haiti, as he should be, but nothing for Ft. Hood or the Christmas day passengers.

I don’t think it’s a matter of hate. I think it is a matter of how many hundreds of thousand more of them will be allowed to move to Miami.
This will be Obama's Katrina. This disaster is more severe than anything suffered in decades in the US.
Think SF in 1906.
We don’t have to lift a finger. Anything we do will be charity.
Haiti is a wretched place and it is not part of America.
This very sad but we have no obligation to give any more than palliative aid.
This has been an independant nation for many years and the population has driven itself into misery and ppoverty.
This is not America’s disaster.
This is what gets me so upset when I hear all the whining about the “poor” in this country.
These people have no concept of what real poverty is. They think poverty is being only able to afford one big-screen TV.
But people are people and they need help. I am sure other countries will help as well.
But the place was a disaster before the quake — and when the talk turns to rebuilding the American taxpayer will have to put her foot down and just say NO.
Impressive. A bus and a half full of people and a truck full of stuff.
Where is all the outrage that dear leader is not doing enough, quick enough?? Remember Katrina, Indonesia, etc during the Bush years?

Other countries and organizations are helping as well. A disaster of this magnitude will need more of a response than the US can provide alone. Terrible human tragedy.
Sending help is, however, a quintessentially American thing to do. It's one of the burdens of being the good guys.
