A federal trial on same-sex marriage focused Wednesday on the similarities and differences between homosexual and heterosexual couples, with a psychology professor citing "remarkable similarities."
Letitia Peplau, an expert on couple relationships, testified that studies have found that the quality of heterosexual and homosexual relationships was on average "the same" as measured by closeness, love and stability.
"On average, same-sex couples and heterosexual couples are indistinguishable," said Peplau, a UCLA professor of social psychology called by attorneys for two same-sex couples who are trying to overturn Proposition 8, the 2008 voter initiative that reinstated a state ban on same-sex marriage.

This "We're all the same, it doesn't matter who you marry, who raises the children" garbage, is another liberal stab at bring America down even further. All part of the plan.
Yup, ‘gay and straight marriages are almost indistinguishable.’ Especially gun-sex, like they were talking about yesterday.
One day this will be — “In those times, people thought (the earth was flat), gays and straights were similar.”
How exactly does someone become an “expert” on “couple relationships”?
This has got to be the stupidest trial ever. I thought the court was determining the constitutionality of Prop. 8. This sort of testimony is totally irrelevant to an interpretation of the Constitution.
Except for the higher rate of documented "domestic" violence between gay couples, and the higher documented rate of suicide in gay relationships, and the higher rate of STDs amongst gays, and the fact that EVERY "gay" family can not be sustained unless the recruit offspring, where as the norm, hetro families will be sustained through the natural pro-creation and according to the great plan.
Yeah, I'd say they are almost exactly the same, except for all that other stuff that makes them completely different.
In both couples:
One pitches, one recieves.
One assumes the role of a man and the other assumes the role of a woman.
both couples can produce babies....oh wait NOT.
both couples can adopt and never tell the child it is adopted....NOT
Hopefully the normal side has an expert to the contrary that does not get lost in the absurd red herring of religion.
I can distinguish them pretty easily. What part of the training of psychologists is responsible for making them less able to do so than the average layman?

This reminds me of the Robbin Williams joke that after the gays started calling it same-sex the married people responded “it’s always the same sex!”
It’s my impression that what most lesbians mean by marriage is pretty close to what most heterosexuals mean, and that what most homosexual men mean is something very, very different.

Keep in mind, roman homosexuals were allowed to openly buy, sell, and trade young boys for personal deviance. Very little has changed as our civilized world heads down the same old road once again. I am also reminded that people once married siblings, another source of degenerative behavior that is fallen by the wayside as homophiles now dominate the contemporary trend in sexual deviance. The court could not simply say: yeah, in “Plessy” the Court was talking nonsense: the plain meaning of the 14th Amendment is that the state cannot treat black citizens any different than they treat white citizens. But, you are right: the facts of the case have to do not merely with precedent but the question of authority. Are the people sovereign? And if the 14th Amendment did not plainly empower women, it damn sure did not empower homosexuals, certainly not in a society that to this day does not recognize pederasty. Greek society, where
homosexuality was a common practice in their temples and in the gymnasia, did not know homosexual marriage. Gays see marriage as a mere convention. If so, they ought to wait until they have enough votes to change that convention rather than strike at the roots of republican government by using the legal process where a black-robed elite impose their will on the public.

Assuming all these things are true, they are also true for many heterosexual members of (for example) disorderly low-income communities, and yet most conservatives support effort to increase marriage rates for these heterosexuals.
If we believe marriage improves the quality of both individual and community life for these heterosexuals, why does it not do so for homosexuals?
That’s all very nice and I’m SURE this leftist psychologist wouldn’t CONSIDER lying. But the PEOPLE VOTED!!!!! THAT is supposed to be what counts and the matter should be closed. And indeed it would be....in a free country.
The same way a person who has many divorces becomes a marriage expert by claiming multiple experiences as part of a “couple”
IOW quantity not quality.
This who premise is as follows:
Hetersexuals in love are a couple,
homosexuals are “in love”
therefore
homosexuals are couples in love....just like normal people.
homosexuality is ONLY about recreational sex.
homosexuals behavior contributes NOTHING to society.
Society rewards the institution not the individual.
normal marriage furthers the continuance of society.
Even a childless couple supports the mother and father model. Even a childles couple has the possibility of having a mother / father adoption and raising of a child either by adoption (legislative creation) or via a familial call to duty. a child which is adopted need never know it is adopted.
homosexuals who simulate having children are just single parents who elect to deny a mother or father to a child. That is a net negative.
again homosexuality is ONLY about sex, nothnig else.
