An already crowded field in this year's race for governor got even larger on Tuesday.
Steve Abbott, who spent the last 12 years as chief of staff for Senator Susan Collins, threw his hat into the ring, joining six other republicans. Abbott, who grew up in Orono and now lives in Portland, says the state needs to get a handle on spending. One of the first things he'd do in office is order an audit of all state government spending.
Just as bad, the seemingly conservative Dean Scontras, who is mounting a challenge to take on US Rep Chellie Pingree (moonbat, district 1), has glowingly endorsed Abbott. Nail-in-coffin time as far as conservatives up here are concerned.
We encourage everyone to look at LePage's site at http://www.lepage2010.com/
what are the chances that GOP can pick up ME house and Governor seats anyway?
Probably fairly decent. I think a Republican will get the governorship but most of the pack are not much better than Democrats. Matt Jacobson is probably the next most suitable but he’s got some RINOitis.
Maine is really a basket case - a welfare state with little meaningful industry and #50 in educational performance. (DC is #51). Regulation runs rampant.
If conservatives don’t take over Maine and bring some economic stability and growth, it’s gone.
Isn’t that wild!? And he thinks it was his idea. Otten should be in a small law office somewhere.
hopefully some conservative will be able to win it
