Record Number of Pro-Life College Students Attend Youth Conference on Abortion

Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) -- Polling data form 2009 shows opinion on abortion moving in the pro-life indication and if the attendance at the upcoming Students for Life convention is any indication, the numbers are right on track. Students for Life of America will host a record number of students at their annual pro-life conference.

The event, on Saturday, January 23rd at the Catholic University of America in Washington, has been sold out for the last two years.

But SFLA is expecting a record number of registrants this year from nearly two dozen states and three countries.

Kristan Hawkins, executive director of Students for Life of America, tells LifeNews.com that the top agenda item for the event is equipping students to oppose government funding of abortion, organize fellow students on their own campuses, and showing them how to use the Internet and new media or the pro-life movement.

"The overwhelming response of students to this year's conference is very exciting," the young pro-life leader said.

Hawkins adds: "Recent polls have indicated that more and more Americans are identifying themselves as pro-life and the number of students we have attending the conference this year only reinforces the sentiments many of us hold in the pro-life movement - that the nation is waking up and seeing abortion in the true light it is."

Several pro-life leaders will be speaking at the conference this year including Marjorie Dannenfelser, president of the Susan B. Anthony List and Phyllis Schlafly of Eagle Forum.

"We hope to energize the next generation of pro-lifers and give them the tools and knowledge they need to lead this country to support a culture of life," said Hawkins.

Students for Life of America is a non-profit organization dedicated to equipping the pro-life generation with the resources they need to end abortion in America. It's president, Hawkins, has been a leader in the Stop the Abortion Mandate Coalition working to oppose abortion funding in the health care bill in Congress.

The organization, formerly known as American Collegians for Life, sports 523 campus pro-life groups at America's colleges and universities.

Pray the rosary to end abortion!Young people today are acutely aware that a third of their generation was murdered.

Many are finding out through their very own parents that the sting and stain of abortion lasts a lifetime. Others are finding out on their own or through their friends' own pain and sorrow. The horror of abortion sure as heck isn't being taught through the public school system. God love these young people who continue to fight for life.

Pray to end abortion.

Like I said a while back, abortion is the one issue that gives me some home for my generation.
