I would imagine that ambulances are no longer Haiti’s priority need.
With no gas, ruined roads, and collapsed or overburdened hospitals, ambulances would just take up space.
They need food, water, basic necessities.
Some on-the-ground accounts from a church-run orphanage there. (Our donations will be funneled through them, because I want to know that my money gets to the people who need help.):

Subject: CATASTROPHIC
Greeting to you all Thank you for your prayer. My daughter and I are safe but there are no words and pictures to explain what I saw. This catastrophe is cruel; right now there are over 100.000 people died and 200000000000 people hurt by this situation. My school and my church ground in Cite Soleil have about 2000 people there for safety. Everybody is on the street, they don’t want to get inside their house. We need water and medical assistant and food for now. The school wall and half of the school building are completely destroyed. We are asking you for solidarity. It is a mess; children body and adult are every where in Port-au-prince and under the cement brick, there’s no electricity and communication almost for 3 days, that’s there reason why we were not able to communicate. If anybody wants to do something to the survivals please keep trying in those numbers: 011-509-3556-4724 / 011-509-4158732 or you could send an e-mail
Thanks for your love, concern and our prayer. That’s all I could say right now.If you are interesting to see my pictures, just ask for because there are too devastated.
Soon I get my head together I’ll send you another e-mail.
Thank God I’m alive
God Bless

EXACTLY.
Might have helped if the vehicles were there BEFORE the quake- but this is too late.
