Joe Lieberman Endorsement Scott Brown Latest Polls Show Widening Lead (Rumor?)
Before Its News ^

Posted on 01/15/2010 9:15:48 PM PST by mnehring

Hartford, CT- Joe Lieberman may be close to announcing his suppport for Massachusetts Senate Candidate Scott Brown. Citing the historical Healthcare Reform Bill as the main issue attracting Lieberman to endorse Brown's Campaign. Scott Brown is vehemently opposed to the proposed Healthcare Legislation.

Joe Lieberman has run against many of his Democratic Counterparts in the Senate over the so called Obamacare Health Care Reform Bill. Back in December, with the public option dead, Democrats revived an old proposal to expand Medicare, but Lieberman voted no. That plan was considered by a small percentage of liberals as a decent alternative to the public option leaving Lieberman at odds with Democratic Senate Leader Harry Reid.

Speculation is such that if Lieberman were to endorse Scott Brown over the coming weekend that would most likely seal the defeat of Martha Coakley for Senate.

Latest Polling has Brown leading Coakley by a margin of 1 to 4 points. Momentum has shifted dramatically in the past week providing an intense national media attention. At stake is Helathcare Reform as well as further momentum to provide possible further shocking Election Results in this falls mid term elections.

This is one of those 'whisper' sites that pick up on stories before they hit, so it may not be true, however, they have correctly predicted or called several other moves and polls in this race.

Yep, it’ll happen. Right about the same time John Kerry endorses Brown.

If this is the case, why is Joe still one of the SIXTY Dem votes that keeps pushing this thing through? Why does he have to endorse Scott Brown and get him elected to do what Joe could have already done?

I hope it’s true but I am sceptical. Such an endorsement would seal Lieberman’s fate as the Dims are already a bit miffed with him. But we shall see.

It is just a rumor now, but this site is the one that called Coakley’s husband’s union endorsing Brown long before it hit the news.

What gives? After all his posturing and negotiating, Lieberman voted FOR Obamacare, and his vote was necessary to reach the needed 60 votes.

This story doesn't make a lot of sense.

Maybe Liberman is giving cover to the rest of the bluedogs to bail too.If Scott wins maybe it will cause the others to be able to bail. Obama history if Scott wins.

Joe could silently ‘endorse’ Brown - and the rest of America by not giving the rats that 60th vote -

You just beat me to that.
This is exactly what I was asking myself.

Seriesly... A Brown win would be the best thing that could happen to the Democrat incumbents in Congress, because it will give them a face-saving reason to dump Obamacare. They can go back to their liberal constituents and apologize that they just did not have the votes. And they can avoid being pilloried by the 65% of the electorate that just hates this bill.

Of course, it’s pretty pathetic that a party can have a 42 vote lead in the House and 59/41 in the Senate and still be paralyzed by legislative gridlock. It means that the only way it can attract a vote is through party loyalty, a sure sign that they are ideologically bankrupt.

I don't believe it. Lieberman could have killed this bill himself with little to no personal ramifications. He already had to run as an independent to keep his seat.

He should announce he will not vote dfor the final bill in any form and grow some stones and then not vote for it.

If Lieberman is to endorse Brown, it won't end there. He will be making a break. It will because he sees in Scott Brown a path towards Northeastern-style Republicanism, and this endorsement presages his vote against Obamacare and conversion from Independent to Republican.

Lieberman would form a NE Republican caucus with Snowe, Collins, Judd and Brown.

Yup...and I think he will be sending a message to the dems to not bother f’ng with Scott Browns seat cause he ain’t vote for it anyway.
this last union deal maybe the straw that broke Liebermans back.

It would be nice but I wouldn’t count on it. Joe teases you and then supports the Dems on almost every issue.
He was silent this week on the Harry Reid and Bill Clinton comments about Obama, black people, and voters in general.

Bill Clinton, who is supposed to be working with elder Bush on fundraising for Haiti has the time to rally for Coakley. Rally the urban minority vote the same week we found out he said a few years before Obama would be fetching us coffee.

If Joe does this, it will be due to Brown’s stance on national security, I’m thinking.

I think the ‘Curt Shilling is a Yankee fan’ statement did it for Lieberman.

No one knew who Scott Brown was before Christmas, let alone gave him ANY chance of winning ‘the swimmer’s seat’.

There is a powerful ‘prisoner’s dilemna’ dynamic currently at work in the U.S. Senate. There is a direct, palpable, political incentive to be the ‘one’ who ‘kills the bill’.

Let’s add it up. What did Landrieu get? Between 100 and 300 mil. How about Nelson’s cornhusker deal? Worth about a cool billion I would say.

And Blanche Lincoln? What did she get? Nada..zilch..nothing.

What a dolt!!

The only way she is reelected is if she changes course and votes to kill the bill.

Lieberman sees this and so there is now pressure on him to beat her to the punch and kill the bill before Scott Brown gets in and kills the bill.

Whoever kills the bill in the U.S. Senate reaps a political gold mine, especially if it is accompanied with a ‘Mom, baseball, and apple pie’ speech wrapped in the American flag.

Mama didn’t raise no fool with Lieberman that is for certain.

Place your bets.
