I thought Notre Dame was a private CATHOLIC school. Must not be so any longer, when considering how they support so many anti-Catholic/Christian views of the far left.

In the college campus setting, I can have no problem with the cartoon, as an act of an individual, in the form of a flyer, leaflet, etc., floating from person to person or post to post around campus.

I don’t think it belongs in the official campus newspaper.

The situation usually is that there is only one campus newspaper and even the courts have agreed that monopoly paper, as part of the institution of the college, does not have the fullness of “freedom of the press” as a group of public competing publications have.

For the fullness of those rights, we would need to abolish the “official” campus press and let the students make whatever competing campus newspapers as they chose, on their own dime and on their own time.

With no official press the KKK campus club and the Black Panthers campus club, and the GLTB campus club and the We-hate-the-infidel-sodomite campus club, can all print their own news-sheets with hatever cartoons please them.

Meanwhile, the monopoly campus rag can and should apply a standard that attempts to be an agnostic in areas that may offend - an equal opportunity denier of language that exceeds some limit that is applied equally.

I don’t think a “lynching” cartoon would be accepted by that standard, and neither would this one.

I totally agree w/you.Brutally beating someone because they’re gay is never acceptable.I’m repulsed by their sexuality, but I never want to see harm inflicted upon another human.
