Read a very thoughtful piece about interrogations vs. debriefings. The net is that interrogations are to break the prisoner's will and the debriefing, conducted afterward, is where the information is obtained. Sure, people in pain will say anything to make it stop. However, the information we got from KSM and friends was not obtained until after the pain was stopped. By then they believed they had withstood enough to satisfy their duty and a fatwa said it was OK for them to spill their guts.

So the Jack Bauer stuff is irrelevant to the discussions of enhanced interrogation techniqies.

BTW, tonight a police officer pounded the hell out of Jack Bauer whilst he sat tied to a chair. In the next scene his face was completely unblemished. Must be steroids for quick healing.
