Cold hearted it may seem, but where is South America taking these orphans? How about France since it was a french colony? Who else is opening up or is it just us Americans, just us Americans trying to make up for our guilts.
The grandstanding by the POLs is terrible. Clinton and Chelsea don’t need to be there..they aren’t going to work and take up space that could be carrying workers or supplies.
Many of these children were in process of being adopted. Why is not a bipartisan effort in progress to bring those children to their new parents? Sounds like a faint to get attention away from the election tomorrow..I know that is cold...glad he is doing this but just sayin.
France does adopt Haitian children as does US couples (we almost adopted there ourselves and have friends who did). All the snarky comments about these orphans are a sad comentary on some folks here. These orphans existed before the earthquake, now there are more of them. Children have no hand in the circumstances they find themselves in.
It was reported that Dutch are bypassing all bureaucracy and sending a plane to Haiti to bring back as many orphans as they can.
Many people don’t have guilt. Many people see innocent babies and children and want to help them. No matter where they are from, they are defenseless.
From what I understand, the kids they are bringing were well into the adoption process and would have been here in a few days or weeks without the earthquake. The adoptive parents had been to Haiti, visited the kids and "bonded" with them. They had everything ready for their arrival when the quake struck. The only delay was moving the paperwork through the bureaucracy.
This is not a deal of picking kids off the street. They were orphans before the quake. The American families had already gone through all the significant expense of screening as well as mental anguish of trying to adopt children in desperate need and bring them to the US.
I have seen a number of friends and even family members go through this process and they become bonded to those children months (sometimes many months) before the bureaucrats ever allow those poor babies to get to our shores. I can't imagine the anguish they have gone through in the last week over those poor children with the earthquake.
As far as Fat Eddie, screw him... I doubt he cares. He's just looking for some PR for his next gig, which with his current approval rating will never be elected office in the State of Pennsylvania.
