I watched Brokaw tonight and he went to all of these places in the country that had been hit hard by this horrible economic wave.
People adjusting, some not. But for all a real scary time. Scary for those who have seen the ones that have lost to the point of loosing no more.
Gone are their jobs, homes and health care. All in that order. Let alone what to eat. Many the fortunate ones have moved back with their parents. Families.
Before all of that happened was the first wave that hit peoples "investments". Half or more gone in one year and to old for many to ever see it return again.
Yet we argue over the "fix it" man winning the election. It appears the problem has been solved for only the people who caused this mess in the firstplace. Wall Street/Banking.
51% of the homes many new construction built or bought on opaque credit. OPM opium. Others peoples money! The gamblers went from Day Trading into real estate. One fell the other took off.
There was huge, I mean huge money in this. More so for Wall Street and Big Banking. Every Big bank loaned money to all the smaller ones and Wall Streets greed created huge independent mortgage crop's that fed the streets.
They all are back and their wealth has returned.
But what about America? It's working people that are the backbone of all our wars and all our taxes.
When the knife has cut so deep into our heartland how far do you think the cut can go? What will happen at one point or another before those who are treading water finally will feel what so many others are enduring?
I have thought that the second or third quarter of 2010 may see the brakes put on. But no one feels that unemployment will be offset by hiring. A stagnate period of time in respect to jobs. Well jobs, isn't that what we need? or do we want a small super rich class on top of a huge lower middle class teetering on being poor?
If this economy does not turn by then a second wave will be forth coming. That one no one wants to see.
Congress and our Executive Office are filled with people who have nothing in common with the reality of pain so many are suffering. Its nothing more than a grab bag of wealth or social interests. Or both.
Throw into the soup religion, racism, anti-war, pro war (if there are any remaining) and Global Capitalism without a hint of oversight.
Pull our troops home. Close our borders unless you ass is squeaky clean. Put traffics on all imports that can not be grown in this country. Prohibit any oil from being exported abroad that lies in our territorial waters and require every citizen in good standings to carry and I.D. card. If you can require young men to enter the draft and carry a card you can give them the confidence that they are protecting only Americans back home.
Give American businesses 100% owned, tax credits and financial support (loans) and tighten the balls on the Fed. Every American employed by a 100% American owned business gets a tax break per employee.
If foreign countries want their products sold in America let them invest in America. Once we do that the dollar gets strong, real strong and the cost of imports are a non-factor.
Wall Streets Global Investments take a hit so what? International banking also..so what?
We are the largest by far consuming nation on earth are we not? Well lets survive on home cooking!
China threatens war but probably only a bluff since a stronger dollar makes them more money with all their T-Bills. If they want them now..give them an I.O.U. Or pay them if they destroy all the nukes pointed our way! Forgot about that huh?
Allow property values to settle back to earth and then rebuild only energy efficient homes and give tax credits with meaning.
Restart our nuclear energy programs and work hard to build a hydrogen or other type of non petro cars. What ever technology that emerges fund private sector companies..(non oil) to set up a national distribution network for refueling. Then look back and see what need for a war in Iraq or a prick like Chavez can do to us.
Lower the speed on our multi- highway inter states one lane is for trucks only and they can run at 60 and the cars in the other lanes only at 45. Enforce it. That way everyone has to plan a little longer to get there reducing the cars need for speed and the threat of serious accidents. People will get used to it wont they? Just like text messaging. Once you do that everyone is behind the wheel of the same type of slower moving car. Get used to it! The benefits are enormous.
As for social welfare..only those who are truly in need. As for the others pay them slightly less than minimum wage and for only so long then cut them off. If the economy is back to 3% unemployment you will see a surplus not a deficit and a trade imbalance all pointed toward America. With this medicine in time we will have emerged stronger. Far stronger than we may herer have been. Jobs will be there for those who are willing to work. Is it better to have a huge unemployment with no jobs on the horizon? Or is it better to be a full employment economy with a few dead beats unwilling to work out on the streets?
Enforce the Taft Hartley Act and break apart these huge monopolies. Split them up and make it competitive again. Ignore Wall Street. You got any more money they can have anyways?
So the ones who will truly twist the arms of all of these lobbyists are China, Wall Street, the Fed, Korea, India, Russia and a host of others. Do you see their countries people rolling in the dough? No just the appointed ones. Or here in our country the elected ones. Eliminate lobbyists ( former politicians and lawyers or both). Strengthen our governments prodecuremet process. No influence peddling, corruption laws with a bite to them.
Eliminate double dipping and prohibit outrageous bonuses at publically traded companies. Base them all on a performance factor not in the manner of job cuts and over seas outsourcing.
As far as gun control. Leave it as it is. Only assault rifles and other non hunting weapons should be banned. Pistols, Shotguns and rifles no problem. They kill everyday but not like a 60 rounds a minute automatic weapon with hollow points or amour piercing shells.
Religion. Just like the Constition keep it separate but never slight God. The God you worship. Its none of ones business anyways. IF you happen to be on the right side when the end comes you were blessed.
Finally everyone must serve this country for one year. Peace Corps. Military, Parks system etc...Institute a draft and get every American in the mix regardless if they are called up or not. Select to do it right out of highschool or college. But get it done before life takes off.
Education.... teacher accountability and parents accountability go hand in hand. Pay the teachers who do a good job well and fire the ones that don't. Get the teachers union in line with it all. Regan knocked down the Air Traffic Controller Union and others do the same with teaching and its unions.
The biggest union of them all is the Federal Government. No job should be for life when allot of people sit on their asses and do hardly nothing at all. Just like the private sector make these people perform or they are gone. Don't we all have that type of thing going on outside the government jobs?
Where is the lowest place of unemployment? Washington D.C. Apply term limits in the Senate ....reduce their pensions and benefits as having term limits shouldn't assure you of a huge pension for life along with all the benefits does it for serving four years?
Eliminate the cost of National Advertising during Federal elections and require NBC, CNN, Fox and others regulated by the FCC to broadcasts a number of debates with a number of each parties candidates having the opportunity to reach out to America and express their views. New ideas, new directions without the money factor. No need for huge funding drives and current party bosses telling you where you stand. Let Americans determine that!
Put in a flat tax. Something like 10%. No exceptions. Who needs a big IRS after that?
Make banks carry an insurnace policy that covers them in default if someone truly falls on bad health. They do it now with their credit cards if you die. Unless of coarse you have joint cards..they do it anyways. So people who become ill seroulsly and can not work do not loose everything to credit card debt or other type of loans. The cheaters and their lawyers if found corrupt pay and do the time...
Lawyers who file numerous frilous lawsuits are disbarred.
Legalize Pot and reduce the amount of people in prison by 70%. Fill up the vacancy's with hard drug pushers. Save this country an estimated 170 billion annually.
Allow registered farmer workers in and possibly select others to do the work that Americans do not want to do. You get pulled over and you don't have an I.D. card you are gone. If you are caught working without one your gone. Everyone legally already has a Social Security Number that has always been needed to work and thus pay taxes. You even have to have it for a telephone or electric bill, bank account.

To be honest, I don't have any friends that consider themselves Democrats. I consider hard core democrats to be a waste of my time and are to be avoided.

Amen. I could write three pages in response or more but I won’t. This nightmare was caused by CRA loans and lawsuits started by community organizers in Chicago and other places. Rich - how about the Sandlers who owned World Savings. Hard core libs in Oakland and dumped tons of worthless loans on Wachovia which sunk it. They made at least $20 billion when they sold it to clueless Wachovia.
Rahm and Gorelnick were in Fannie and Freddie along with cronies. It was a setup and short hedge funds like Soros, John Paulson, JD Flowers, David Shaw and others made tens of billions. Who controls Obama and where did $700 million in campaign money come from? A lot from Saudi Arabia and that $700 m did NOT all come from inside the USA and it was a payoff to the media to buy advertising.
You cannot give mortgages to people who cannot pay but if the banks say no - they are sued by Uncle Sam for redlining (racism). This is what really caused it.
The markets also started tanking in June/July 2008 when Hillary was done. Samrt money and big institutions started moving money out of the USA. They feared Obama. As McCain’s poll numbers tanked - the market fell but the short hedge funds picked off in gang trading/shorting one financial company after another destroying them with Goldman making tons on all the trades.
The day after the election. Many businesses started laying off people enmasse why? A business man or woman’s #1 goal is to survive. When you have a leftwing marxist muslim in charge - business people will go into survival mode. Rich people and the upper middle class cut back in a big way and go into survival mode and they are job creators. They hire poolmen, yardmen, car waxers, maids, the list goes on and on.
So where are we now? Well much of the middle class is hanging on by their fingernails. My guess is many will sink by the last summer.
The only ray of hope - Scott Brown may sink ObamaCare.

Obama’s plan is to raid 401K and IRA plans and put people in a 5% America Annuity which will be another scam like Social Security. The public has about $11 trillion in savings and they want it. So remember your compassion for the third world when they take whatever you have left. The illegals need your money. They will not loot their liberal elite allies though. Democrats are like children playing king of the hill. They never ask about limits to power, because they never presume there are any. They know nothing about jurisdiction, nor the inherent limitations on government that is the hallmark of the Constitution. Their immature minds are filled with delusions of omnipotent power, and they argue only about who should be crushed and who should be rewarded by this power.
Above all, they care most about using that power to crush anyone who disagrees with them, rather than protecting freedom. In fact, they see freedom as the enemy - their “solutions” are inevitably theories of how it needs to be restricted “for the common good.”
