Sen. Webb: No HCR Votes Until Brown Seated
talking points memo ^

Posted on 01/19/2010 7:10:50 PM PST by cdchik123

Less than 15 minutes after the race was called for Republican Scott Brown, the first of what could be many conservative Democrats asks for leadership to put the brakes on health care reform.

Sen. Jim Webb (D-VA) congratulated Brown on his win and delivered a zinger:

"In many ways the campaign in Massachusetts became a referendum not only on health care reform but also on the openness and integrity of our government process. It is vital that we restore the respect of the American people in our system of government and in our leaders. To that end, I believe it would only be fair and prudent that we suspend further votes on health care legislation until Senator-elect Brown is seated."

Even our D’s in VA are smart. We do take pride in smart politicos in VA, despite party

Jim Webb knows how the winds are going in VA, and that 2006 and 2008 were flukes.

Does Webb have integrity or is he just being pragmatic? Oh, there’s a “D” next to his name. I’m going to go with “pragmatic.”

How pleasant it is to crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and to listen to the lamentations of their women...

I’ve been ripping into Webb (I live in VA) and I will thank him for this, but will remind him he did vote for this garbage the first time around. And that will NEVER be forgotten.

So Webb finally grows a pair -- after Brown carries the water!

I will say this, however, I wouldn't be shocked if Webb switched parties this year.

Jus sayin ...

Actually, I suspect there are a lot of Dems who are going to be grateful for an excuse not to vote for BambiCare.

I wish people would quit using the term moderate democrat.

There is no such animal.

Their health Care Votes against the will of the american people exposed the myth of the moderate.

Promising...promising.Is Webb's statement made out of fear...or a true sense of fair play? I guess it doesn't matter but my money's on the former.

Webb? Integrity????? That almost made me barf and it takes a lot. All that shows is that he can read tea leaves. He is almost as despicable as John Murtha. It’s a distant second but he’s on the list.

Someone is feeling the hot breath of death on his neck. Watch them all stampede to the center now that the threat of political annihilation has become a reality.
