What can I say?

What can anyone say?

The long-awaited political realignment has begun.

The Democratic Party has self-destructed.

Even Massachusetts recognizes it and led the way last night in making it official.

When the polls closed, the curtain opened on a midterm election year that promises the biggest political revolution this nation has witnessed since 1994 – maybe bigger, maybe much bigger.

I don't know much about Scott Brown. His story is almost beside the point. What we witnessed yesterday in Massachusetts was a referendum on Barack Obama, Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid. The people of arguably the most liberal Democratic state in the country delivered a no-confidence vote on a government controlled lock, stock and barrel by liberal Democrats.

As the Buffalo Springfield once sang, "There's something happening here." But, in this case, what it is is exactly clear.

The tea party has returned to its roots.

As hard as it might be to believe, Massachusetts was a leader of the War of Independence 230 years ago. Now, it is living up to its revolutionary heritage by rejecting the sharp change of direction this nation took just over a year ago.

I hate to say it, but I really did tell you so.

In the middle of the 2008 campaign, I wrote a book called "None of the Above" and a series of commentaries in which I predicted accurately this result.

I told people not to be afraid to reject both Obama and John McCain. I recognized that America was eager for change. It was eager to reject Republicans. It was eager to reject George W. Bush and most of what he represented.

At the same time, I warned what Obama had in store for us. I clearly explained that voting for him would be immoral, evil, inexcusable. However, I also explained that his election would likely result in something very positive, in the long term – something that could actually set our nation on a much better course than McCain could ever imagine.

We're on our way to fulfilling that prophecy.

This is just the beginning.

It's not the Republican Party that made this happen.

It was an awakening by the American people.

They don't want to live under socialism.

They don't want to live under tyranny.

They don't want to live in a nanny state.

They don't want to live in misery.

They don't want to live under government's thumb.

They want to be free.

So let's celebrate today. Let's smile and rejoice. Let's take comfort in what appears to be a second chance for America.

But don't get too complacent.

Tomorrow the work continues.

It will be time to return to the streets.

It will be time to organize new tea parties.

It will be time for accountability at the town-hall meetings – if any Democratic Party incumbent dares convene one.

And, most importantly, it will be time to find good candidates to ensure every incumbent gets a challenge in November. It will be time to donate to the best of those candidates. It will be time to canvass the precincts. It will be time to hand out the fliers and call the neighbors.

We just heard "The Scott heard 'round the world." Now it's time to rally the troops, stockpile the political ammunition and prepare for the real showdown in November.

This is going to be fun.

As denizens of this site can be forgiven (or blamed) for occasionally overstating the importance of the Internet and so-called alternative media (which still conveys an image of those commie urban newsprint weeklies) but I am convinced of two things:

1) This would not have happened with the MSM, particularly the Boston Globe, still in a position of informational power.

2) The speed with which this happened clearly shows the importance and influence of 24/7 news cycles and of course the 24/7 presence of the Internet.

People standing on roadways, on bridge over passes and on street corners waving with Scott Brown signs made this happen.
(And the annoying robo-calls, lol)

Many in MA don’t pay attention, this was an off-off election and the percentages of voters were huge in many towns. People needed to be reminded to vote yesterday.

Without the sign holders taken to the streets it could have gone the other way easily. Sign bearers out in public got out the vote - it was a Tea Party wake up call method that was used this past year and carried over to the Brown campaign.

Local and regional talk show hosts were very crucial in this too...Howie Carr, Sports Radio, etc.
