In light of another earthquake having just hit Haiti this early this morning, this blog article becomes much more important. This little clip is heartbreaking. Now, this is beginning to shape up as a catastrophe on top of a catastrophe. CNNs Soledad OBrien pointing out today that the relief workers are unable to get aid to orphanages either because they have pushed it down the priority hole or they are simply overwhelmed. My guess is its a combination of both but wouldnt you think in a failed state where orphanages are a staple of the society someone would put children first.

Good grief. If they cut the garbage with the stupid Hague Convention (new international regs covering adoption http://adoption.about.com/od/international/f/whathague.htm ) Homeland Security (Haitian orphans are not security threats) and just brought them over here, there would be homes for almost all of these orphans in no time.
If they people in Haiti need help... I suggest they WALK to the other side of the island and get it from the Dominican Republic.
Forget that, have you ever seen the DR? Other than the hotels it is basically a slum too, but at least they have tourism.
They’re not a priority here either - my friends who are adopting a Haitian boy were first told that the State Dept in conjunction with Homeland Security would expedite finalizing their paperwork but now it looks like they’re bailing. Right now these kids (from Maison des Enfants de Dieu - the orphanage featured several times on Fox News) are in danger from looters, they are living outside, the babies are becoming sick and dehydrated because they have no formula, they have very little food and water - all this despite the media attention. Apparently the orphanage asked for help getting the kids transported away from their unusable building to the US Embassy but were refused. The orphanage director managed to secure 2 buses and he’s going to try to drive over 100 kids there today.
However, flying her down was a priority even though they have had Anderson, Ivan, Sanjay and a couple of others already on the ground from day one - doing a great job I might add. She is soooo annoying.
feeling so helpless....
these children would be swooped up quickly if easier adoptions policies would be implemented....
of course we'd have to make sure deviates don't get ahold of them....
