The problem with Pickens or any “alternative” is our government.

Dollar wise, it would make a lot of sense to convert my car to run on natural gas HOWEVER, the wonderful EPA has made it nearly impossible as unless a conversion kit for a SPECIFIC vehicle has already been approved you cannot afford the conversion. The approval process is so extensive and expensive that only fleet vehicles can reap the benefits.

Nukes for electric power and natural gas for vehicles. We can do this today if we could somehow get rid of Washington.

It is not a technical issue but the progressives have infiltrated both parties and have deliberately put a monkey wrench into the works.

You want more energy? Get rid of the Department of Energy and the EPA and while you are at it, get rid of the current administration a most of congress.

“He’s right about this though.”

He owns a lot of gas,,, and no, he isnt right. Gas makes sense for electricty generation, not vehicles. It’s LOTS of fun to have a vehicle that goes less than 100 miles per fill up. The tank takes up the entire trunk. And fueling is like filling the space shuttle. (ok,,fueling isn’t QUITE that bad,, but driving around with a thermos bottle of compressed natural gas is not that cool)

Gas could light and heat our homes forever. Abundant oil is for cars. And why not buy it from whoever sells? But the better answer is to drill and develop our own. That he isnt fighting for THAT, makes him a huckster.

Pickens is turning into a joke.

T Boone is a gas.

Natural Gas.

The less arab oil, the more gas America will buy.

Like I said T Boone is a gas.

Pickens is full of it, and he knows it. Less than a fifth of our imported oil comes from Arabia. Most of it comes from Canada and South America. “Arabs” are a red herring in this case, to sell his wind scheme.

Forget Pickens, he's not in Washington.

The use of LNG is the quickest way for the U.S. to reduce foreign oil imports, reduce foreign debt and increase domestic jobs. The government is one of the largest purchasers of domestic vehicles - all departments of Federal, State and local government. Mandate they all, with a few common sense exceptions, be LNG powered. Detroit would be busier designing and manufacturing new cars and spin-off tech.

It only takes the current Magic Light-Skinned Negro Administration to get behind it. Will they? Of course not.

At 3000psi you certainly won’t need a fuel pump to get it from the tank to the engine. LNG is better in large-scale installations. All those small high-pressure tanks seem inefficient and a bit dangerous.

I’ll bet most government vehicles barely travel 100 miles a week. A bunch of short trips to the office across town and to lunch. I’ve seen buses powered by LNG - they are running routes that are 70+ miles/day. Most law enforcement, Post Office, state and local gov’t vehicles ought to be LNG.

I never really thought aboout it before but way back when I was in highschool in the 80s our school busses were converted to run on propane. From that day on, they lined up to fill up twice a day or more every day. In fact there was a day when we all got on the bus and halfway through the route, had to return to the school where they made us all go wait in the cafeteria while they filled up again.

The technology is simple and safe enough in England. They have been converting vehicles to LNG for years. Much easier on engines, too. If the Brits thought it was dangerous, they wouldn’t do it. They aren’t going to put themselves at risk anymore than we would.

"they lined up to fill up twice a day or more every day"

Sounds like it never crossed their mind to use larger tank.

They were restricted to a certain sized tank for safety reasons. Combine that with a large district and the extremely poor efficiency of using the gas.

No wonder Pickens is pushing it for fuel. Inefficiency leads to higher sales and it drives up heating costs along with it. He should push the ethanol snake oil too.

“He’s right about this though.”

Absolutely.

Using domestic natural gas rather than sending PetroDollars to the ragheads who want to kill us—what is there to disagree with?

Another approach would involve encouraging LNG fueling facilities at major truck stops along major highways. Perhaps not applying fuel tax to LNG for the first 5 years to encourage adoption. Long-haul tractor-trailers use a lot of fuel per month and spend much of their time on highways, so a few LNG refueling points could serve a lot of trucks.

T-Boone cares about T-Boone and the investments he has.

We wouldn't be dependent on foreign oil if were drilling for the trillion barrels of accessible oil within our own borders.

The oil in the Middle East isn’t evil. The depots who kill men, women, children, and “subhuman” infidel are.

The leadership needs to be terminated as the Nazi menace was. Their system of theocratic rule is a violation of basic freedoms and leads to institutional support and state funding for Islamic terrorism.

Right...Using natural gas for power generation is idiotic. Should be outlawed. The stupid greenies like that because gas is “cleaner”. Instead use more coal for power generation

Natural gas is a fuel that has a great future in transportation and should be promoted in all ways possible including tax incentives.

We are a coal and gas super power. We need to use them more including burning coal to run electric automobiles

T bone is a hustler trying to put his hand in our pocket. He failed with his algorian wind farm crap before and now he’s back.

Exactly. We only import 12% of our oil from the Middle East. Sarah would have Americans pumping that 12% from American oil wells in months not years.
