What's next for Coakley? A reelection campaign
Boston Globe ^

Despite being stung by her devastating loss to Republican Scott Brown in the US Senate race, Democratic Attorney General Martha Coakley will return to work this week and seek reelection in the fall, aides said.

"She loves her job," said Coakley spokesman Corey Welford. "It allows her to take on issues she feels passionately about, to fight for people in the state."

"She is going to run for reelection. Many of the issues she discussed during this campaign are issues she's already fully engaged in as attorney general -- holding Wall Street accountable, taking on predatory lenders, fighting to make health care more affordable for all our citizens," Welford said.

It remains unclear whether Coakley will face a challenge. Some ambitious Democratic prosecutors and state lawmakers had already been preparing campaigns for attorney general. And House Minority Leader Bradley H. Jones Jr. of North Reading said in today's Globe that Republicans might consider a challenge to Coakley, even if she decided to run again.

You can't make this up. By the way she has been awful as A.G. and it was rumored that she was running for senate because she new she wouldn't be re-elected as A.G.

Asked whether she could lose, or draw opponents because she is viewed as vulnerable after the stunning upset by Brown, Welford said: “One thing that has never changed — before or after this election — is that Martha Coakley is universally praised as an outstanding attorney general who gets results for the people of this state.”

That is an out and out lie

IIRC a couple days ago she said that if she lost she would retire to the cape and write mystery novels.

Yea, like confusing former Red Sox pitchers as Yankee fans, the spelling of Massachusetts, assuring Catholics of their jobs in the E.R.

Actually I hope she wins her A.G seat because we know she's qualified stuck-on-stupid enough to have a top spot in the 0bama administration and God forbid that.

“...”She loves her job,” ...”

Of course she does. I can think of no better job than Democrat, Attorney General of Massachusetts for someone with no talent.

After all, it took a stooge like her to protect Teddy back in ‘68.

“It allows her to take on issues she feels passionately about”

...like allowing rapists to run free, taking guns from law abiding citizens and supporting tax payer abortions! You know! Passionate, important issues.

She must be a non-starter. The dem party line is that she lost because she was horrible. Furthermore, Obama put his own reputation on the line to campaign and he got repudiated. You think the dem party is going to support her candidacy? Unless she’s a top fund raiser and can fund her own campaign without a lick of help from the party, she’s toast.

We’d better put up a Republican to run against her. I’m sick and tired of the GOP not contesting statewide offices here and hopefully the Scott Brown phenomenon will ramp things up a bit here.

She ought to resign as AG. After all, she demonstrated she does not believe in the First, Fourteenth, and Fifteenth Amendments to the Constitution of the United States by statements she made during the campaign. He comment about no Catholics need apply for jobs in hospitals makes her look like a modern day Bull Conner not to be confused with her husband Bull___-for-brains O’Connor late of the Cambridge Police Department.
