“Though we take them for granted here, in many socialist medicine states, ultrasounds are few to non-existent.”
Actually, the recent news story here was about the ever-increasing number of ultrasounds being done for mothers not judged to be at any particular risk. AFAIK, ultrasound machines are relatively cheap (compared to a CAT scanner or MRI) and scans appear to be readily available. Reading between the lines here, though, it sounds like these folks may have lived in a rather remote area, which may have limited their access somewhat.
Not necessarily. You can't just keep draining blood out of an infant for tests. It takes the same amount of blood to do a test on an infant as on an adult, but the volume of blood available is much smaller. The anemia mentioned was likely induced by blood draws for testing. Sure, you can replace blood volume with transfusions, but for a fragile infant with an immature immune system, this is not without risks, and it also clouds the results of subsequent blood tests.
LifeSite is a tabloid-type publication, with little regard for facts. They'll publish just about anything to draw hits to their site, the wilder the claims, the better. They routinely omit pertinent information that would detract from their endless message of "Omigod! These evil people just love murdering babies!"
When I see things like the quote from Dr. Byrne, who has never treated this baby and apparently has no direct access to the baby's medical records, saying: Of course brain death never was true death and never will be true death. It was something that was just made up so they could get [organs] for transplantation., I know I'm reading a steaming pile of manure. There is very little need for organs for transplantation into tiny infants, and that's the only thing tiny infant organs are good for. And the idea that the Canadian government healthcare system, in which it's difficult to get even basic care, is scrambling to get infant organs for transplantation is too preposterous for words.
The parents actually sound quite reasonable, and willing to let go if they get independent confirmation that little Isaiah is effectively brain-dead. http://www.calgaryherald.com/business/Dispute+erupts+over+fate+baby/2462903/story.html
So, when it comes to America, you oppose the state saving lives, but when it comes to Canada you support the state's role in taking lives.
By "tabloid-type publication" do you simply mean they support the pro-life agenda?
And yet, you show no apprehension at all about the ramblings of Margaret Sanger, George Felos, Peter Singer, Josef Mengele or Jack Kavorkian.
I’d say allowing her to lay in labor for 40 hours was the direct result of NHS and it is their fault this little guy is in the shape he is. Why in the world wasn’t an ultrasound and c section done at the first hospital like it would be here even in the smallest hospitals? Could it be that because of the NHS the service is only avaliable in certain places? Now they want to finish him off because he is too expensive. It is criminal the power they have over people’s lives!
The medical community sure has bizarre definitions of brain dead.
Must be they need the organs.
