Senate Democrats New Talking Points ("leaked" memo)
NRO Online ^ | 01/20/10 | Daniel Foster

Talking Points Memo has what it is calling a leaked, well, talking points memo circulated to Senate Dems.

There is an unusual whiff here that the loss of the 60th vote is actually something of a relief — in that if Democrats fail to get any bipartisan support for their 2010 legislative agenda it enables them to cast the GOP not just as minority obstructionists, but as abdicants of their shared responsibility to govern.

MASSACHUSETTS ELECTION MEANS THAT SENATE REPUBLICANS HAVE MORE RESPONSIBILITY TO GOVERN, NOT OBSTRUCT

· We welcome Scott Brown to the Senate.

· While Senator-elect Brown's victory changes the political math in the Senate, it does not change the challenges are country faces or the need to address them.

· We remain committed to strengthening our economy, creating good paying jobs and ensuring all Americans can access affordable health care.

· Senate Republicans have an obligation to the American people to join us in governing our nation through these difficult times and to help clean up the mess they left behind.

· It is mathematically impossible for Democrats to pass legislation on our own. Senate Republicans to come to the table with ideas for improving our nation and not obstructionist tactics.

· Saying "no" might be a good political strategy but it does nothing to create jobs or help improve the lives of struggling Americans.

New? It sounds like the same old crap...no ideas and just blame the GOP. That should work well for them in November. Look how well it worked over the last 12 months.

You’re right, it’s all the same. Blame the other side for your failures. We need to get some adults in there running the show. These temper tantrum prone kindergarteners are losing it.

“to cast the GOP not just as minority obstructionists,”

They couldn’t be campaigning better for us by saying this. It’s what the people want.
LOL! You couldn’t make this stuff up.

And who are they complaining to? All those people who don’t want this thing? Thank you for pointing out who stands in the way of it, Dems.

My kids had the same sort of tantrums until I paddled their little butts and broke them of it.

Dims talking points:

1. It’s Bush’s fault
2. It’s the last administration’s fault
3. The previous 8 years have been terrible
4. It’s a combination of the first three factors.

Different visions for America.

But keep in mind, Corporate America is by and large in favor of shifting the burden of their health care plans onto the taxpayers.

Rove does it again!
Only he could have sent in an undercover operative to convince them that this is the right way to go!

If saying "no" keeps the democrats from enacting their job-killing agenda, then it definitely helps improve the lives of struggling Americans.

I don't know who wrote these political instructions; however, they surely sound Obama-esque, n'est ce pas?

Wonderful. Offering a carrot and then beating with a stick. Sure, that'll go over real well influencing and making friends and political allies.

· It is mathematically impossible for Democrats to pass legislation on our own. Senate Republicans to come to the table with ideas for improving our nation and not obstructionist tactics.

Hooooo boy is this one a real howler! Mathematically impossible? Overwhelming majorities in both houses of Congress with a like minded President as well as possibly Supreme Court, and it's *mathematically impossible* ??? What frickin' planet are they living on ???

GEEEEZZZ !!! /laughs

I hope the Dems keep going down this path. It ensures that Republicans will continue to oust Dems from Senate and House seats....
