PORT-AU-PRINCE, Jan 21 (Reuters) - A child squats to defecate yards away from a sidewalk where women press plantain into bite-sized pieces for frying and a naked toddler plays with a pile of rice on the filthy ground.
Nearby, a dead body has been dumped on the street, right in front of a sea of morose people sitting on grubby mattresses, and a garbage collector uses a shovel to scoop up soggy black mounds of putrid trash composed of plastic water bags, polystyrene plates, orange peel and tin cans. Stray dogs forage.
Sanitary conditions in tent cities like this one in Port-au-Prince's once elegant Champs de Mars park around Haiti's crumbled presidential palace are worsening by the day as hundreds of thousands of survivors of last week's earthquake cram together to eat, sleep, wash and defecate.
"It's miserable here. It's dirty and it's boring. There's nothing to do but walk about," said Judeline Pierre-Rose, 12, who misses her comfortable home with its couch and TV.
"People go to the toilet everywhere here and I'm scared of getting sick. My twin sisters vomited last night," she said.

As families settle in after nine days camped out -- preparing food on the dirty ground, cooking on charcoal fires and walking about in flip-flops through toxic dark gray puddles, nobody is doing anything about hygiene.
"It's up to the government to resolve this kind of problem, they must take responsibility and tell us what to do," said Wesnel. Then he added: "Maybe they are in the middle of working out a plan."

That has been going on all along. The Salvadorans (100,000) from their hurricane in ‘98 are all STILL here. There are others as well...like all the muslim Somalians that Bush brought in. There are recent posts outlining this...and they are never temporary. I can see this administration pulling an amnesty (they won’t call it that) because of all the turmoil in Mexico. It’s game over then.
On that, friend, you are wrong. Unless you refer to the Zoroastrians and their mash-up of a theology, but I do not think they are 6,000 years old — maybe 4000. The ‘Satan’ as an independent godlike being which you seem to be demanding be recognized is a more recent invention.
That Satan is a the world’s greatest and longest excuse for misbehavior. But that’s all it is — an excuse.

It’s a good thing to offer refuge in such cases, but like anything else it can be overdone, and used to create more havoc and harm than it solves. I do not think it has been overdone in any case, but I do think people supporting such refugee immigrations haven’t owned up to the burden we all bear from it. For example in 1980 Governor Bill Clinton ordered the Arkansas National Guard out to bottle up tens of thousands of Cuban refugees in the Federal Fort Chaffee, because they had caused many problems in the community.

To be clear, Satan certainly is a being, but certainly nothing like God.
I'm not demanding anything, as these are not MY ideas. The existence of Satan is clear and explicitly documented in Holy Scripture from Genesis to Revelation. He, in the New Testament, tempted Christ Himself on more than one occasion. That Satan exists is a foregone conclusion (not a debatable point of contention) of Catholicism, Protestantism, Judaism and even Islam.

The aid on ‘day one’ is whatever can be done, but soon thereafter has to switch to aid and rescue provided with civil order, and soon then has to become a combination of open-handed aid and tight-handed aid. You have to get the people to work, and if able, work hard. That’s how you keep moral up, in such horrendous conditions.
Water and emergency medical stuff is open-handed. After that — you pay or you work for it, as you are able.

I’m not into predictions, but numbers do matter. The Haitians won’t help, they’ll vote democrat for sure. But we’re talking 2 or 3 million of them while 500,000 Mexicans come over that border every year (according to their & our government). Mexicans come from a more violent place, with destruction every day, and really don’t live much better than Haiti does. The 3rd world is the 3rd world and we’re importing it like mad. If this government can use the excuse of an ‘emergency’ to bring in the Haitians and give 200,000 illegal haitians amnesty, they’ll do it for 10 million Mexicans,several million muslims, 50,000 illegal alien Irishmen and millions more too numerous to count. And then it’s game over.

She’s 12 years old, you “moron.” While she might pick up the garbage, things are so out of control, where’s she going to put it? What power does she have? How on god’s green earth is she going to bury a body? Your kid bury any bodies lately?
Now for the young men wondering around, yeah, they all need to get a clue, but let’s be realistic here as to what people can do and the environment in which every service (to the extent that there were any services before) is down, gone, or at marginal levels. Maybe we can get the injured to amputate their own limbs. That would get things back in order, pronto.
