UPDATE: THE Federal Government has ordered the defence department to look at ways of removing biblical references on gunsights used by special forces troops in Afghanistan.
The American maker of the Advanced Combat Optical Gunsight, a Michigan based company called Trijicon, stamps Biblical references next to the serial number of all of its military gunsights.
The references include "2COR4:6,'' a reference to Second Corinthians 4:6 of the New Testament.
The passage in part reads: "For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.''

Personally I would love to get one of the scopes with the scripture references stamped on it.
Markings included "JN8:12," a reference to John 8:12: "Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, 'I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life,'" according to the King James version of the Bible.
The Trijicon Reflex sight is stamped with 2COR4:6, a reference to part of the second letter of Paul to the Corinthians: "For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ," the King James version reads.

Heard on a local radio show talking about this that the manufacturer (Trijicon) had used Bibilical messages as part of the serial numbers for EVERYTHING. Not just gun sights...EVERYTHING. Given that it’s just a tiny sequence of alphanumeric characters...why the fuss?
