The man behind a controversial whites-only professional basketball league defended his position Thursday. Don "Moose" Lewis' proposed new league has one major requirement for participation. Players in the league must be Caucasian. Lewis said the league was far from racist.
"It's all white, U.S. citizens [who were born] white," said Lewis.
The Atlanta boxing and wrestling promoter said his All-American Basketball Alliance will have teams in several southern cities and start in June.

Maybe it’s not ‘racist’, I don’t know...I just think it’s stupid. I mean, it’s a sport and anyone should be allowed to play. Why whites only? Just because blacks or latinos have their own clubs, doesn’t make theirs any more right...they are just as stupid. *IMO
I don’t have any problem w/ it...if we can have TV networks like BET, organizations such as the National Black Contractors Association, etc., etc., etc., why not???

WHY do affirmative action laws NOT apply to the NFL and NBA?
Dunno about the NBAbies, but the NFL has the onerous "Rooney Rule" that says you can't hire a coach unless and until you interview a minority candidate.
If that ain't affirmative action in its worst incarnation, I don't know what is.

I remember NBA games having higher scores in the 1980’s than I see them having today. You can’t tell me it’s defense. Allen Iverson shoots 25 percent from the field, and he’s a star.
Cousy is still one of the all time greats. If rules were in place as originally defined, no player in the range of 6’8” could dribble the ball without losing it to a shorter quicker guy stealing it.
