A lot of people voted for him because of the novelty of a black president, or out of ignorant white guilt. Others voted for (unknown) change. A majority of Americans are not really in the game except for special appearances, like Presidential elections. They just are not paying attention at all.

No, but you will be watched closely while you are new. When you say things that are not conservative in nature, we will check your date of joining and call you a noob. If you turn out to be a troll, you will meet some kittens and then fade away.
If you are newly becoming conservative, you might be on a learning curve that will blow your mind.

This is only the second site I have commented on & am not thoroughly educated about trolls, but understand that they get into the mix to confuse or annoy. What are kittens? I do find this site interesting, I find myself agreeing w/ things that have been percolating in the back of my head & I obviously find them interesting enough to read & sometimes comment on. Personally I think that people who are “trolls” possibly have too much time on their hands or no job. Otherwise it seems a waste of everyones’ time to participate in a site where you are not sincere. Does it mean that I am agreeing w/ everything? No, but it means that I am listening to another side & find myself nodding in agreement in ways I never have before.
When you have been brought up in a very liberal household it does take time to turn to other ideas & ways of thinking. All I can say is that I am sincere and my mind is open to embracing ideas I have been blind to for a long time. On the other hand I do understand people being wary because of all the anger out there. And yes, maybe it is never too late to take in different ideas & different philosophies. I like to think that as I get older I also get wiser.

I would have to say- a combination of “liberal white guilt” & not being able to go w/ McCain. The choice between two people I did not particularly care for.

Thank you for your reply, you seem to be sincere. If you
hang around for a while, I think you will come to like
it here, but sometimes you have to have a tough skin.
It's also possible that being a troll IS their job. It's happened here more than once.
