Former supporter Zuckerman fires 2nd shot over Obama’s bow

It was just yesterday that I posted about the equally meteoric rise and fall of BHO. But apparently driving Obama's failures home... not merely confined to the MA special election loss... was important enough for Mort Zuckerman - former Obama supporter - to again fire another political shell over Obama's bow. After recapping domestic and foreign failure after failure on record, Zuckerman's op-ed in US News and World Report, "The Incredible Deflation of Barack Obama" comes to a single conclusion:

The consequence is that there isn't a single critical problem on which the president has a positive public rating. Only a minority of Americans now believe the president will make the right decisions for the country. Nor can he any longer take refuge in the rejoinder that "we inherited a terrible situation." Or blame it on fat-cat bankers and insurance companies. Blaming others, including Bush, for the country's predicament is less and less persuasive. "At some point you own your presidency," wrote Peggy Noonan in the Wall Street Journal. "At some point the American people tell you it's yours."

Another stellar point made by Zuckerman is Obama's penchant for the cameras, and perpetual campaign mode of governance.

Perhaps the inevitable outcome was disappointment—and on this Obama has not disappointed. Alas, he has accelerated the deflation of hope with his extraordinary volume of public appearances. In his first six months, he gave three times as many interviews as George W. Bush, four times as many prime-time news conferences as Bill Clinton, and more interviews than both combined: 93 for Obama and 61 for his two immediate predecessors. He appeared on five Sunday talk shows on the same morning, followed the next day by David Letterman, the first-ever presidential appearance on a nighttime comedy show. In another week, he squeezed in addresses to the U.S. Climate Change Summit, the U.N. General Assembly, the U.N. Security Council, and a variety of press conferences.

His promiscuity on TV has made him seem as if he is still a candidate instead of president and commander in chief. He—and his advisers—have failed to appreciate that national TV speeches are best reserved for those moments when the country faces a major crisis or a war. Now he faces the iron law of diminishing novelty.

The ever affable and always entertaining Mark Steyn touched on the same in his column today, "Brown's truckin', Obama shifts into reverse". Obama has a dogged approach to whipping up public support.... spam them with personal appearances, pounding the same talking points over and over until you think you've convinced them.

And that is not leadership.

So, if that's 93 in one year for Obama, then for the 16 years of Bush and Clinton there was an average of a little less than 4 per year (61/16 = ~3.81/year), one every three months. Obama, then, has had more than 23 times more than his two predecessors or almost 8 per month, a true media slut.

Zuckerman can’t bring himself to say it, but BO was not qualified for the presidency from the beginning. He was unprepared, had no experience (in either governing nor managing) that would be an asset in the presidency, and all the recycled Clinton staffers in the world — and the entire MSM — couldn’t fill that void. We were well and truly screwed the day he was elected, and now he is well and truly screwed, too. And none of this should come as a surprise to people, like Zuckerman, who were supposedly paying attention.

People voted for O because they thought there was something in it for themselves.

None of this makes sense unless you look at it this way:

Who needs to ‘lead’ if what you’re aiming for is destruction?

Mort Zuckerman (born 1937) is a Canadian-born American
magazine editor, publisher, and real estate billionaire.
He is a naturalized citizen of the United States.

and, as of 2007, is the current Editor-in-Chief of U.S. News & World Report.
He co-founded Boston Properties, Inc. in 1970.
He is chairman of the board, and director.

In 2006, he was ranked the 382th wealthiest American.
In 2007, he was the 188th.
In 2008, he was the 147th
Most of the increase was related to the sale in 2007
of 5 Times Square and 280 Park Avenue in New York,
which together realized $2.5 billion for his company,
Boston Properties, Inc.

Zuckerman invested roughly $30 million with Bernie Madoff.

Mort Zuckerman ripped into ObaMao with Neil Cavuto and now in print.

This stuff will start to stick.

For those of us who are conservative political junkies, nothing is new here.

Obama’s popularity is in the minus 15 range. When the non-political junkies start reading this Zuckerman stuff, Obama will be minus 25 or 30 within weeks.

It is going to be a long four years folks. Much longer than the Jimmy Carter years.

You have said so perfectly what I & others have been thinking. I am ashamed to say that I voted for Obama & like so many others I am completely disgusted. The only good thing I can say is that I will never feel the need to be a guilty liberal voter- I will vote for the best candidate regardless of political party. I hope that by admitting this I am not banned from this site.

Follow the money is the only answer I can come up with as to why Buffett and Zuckerman voted for Obama. Buffett and Zuyckerman must have seen future opportunities to buy or sell something if Obama were elected president instead of McCain. Money is a big game for Buffet and Zuckerman.

Well said, LL!

How come it took so long for all these professional media types and pundits to recognize what us racist right-wingers pointed out during his campaign?

Sometimes a bitter pill is required before things can get better.

Carter was the bitter pill that lead to a Reagan presidency.

Obama is a bitter pill that, hopefully, will lead to a strong, staunch conservative president in 2012.

Instead of concentrating on jobs, jobs, jobs, he made the decision to "boil the ocean" and go for everything, from comprehensive health reform to global warming to a world without nuclear weapons ... and the beat goes on. This was more than the Congress could absorb and more than the country could understand.

We're so stupid. Maybe Obama should try to explain the wonders of global marxism to us slower and more frequently, so we learn to love it.

Eff Mort Zuckerman. This jackass was part of the Dr. Frankenmedia that sold this braindead carcass as some sort of new superman.

You lied to yourself, you dumbass. Now you're mad that you were lied to. If I bought any of your crappy leftist publications, I'd boycott them.
