Agreed. The basic assumption is that the two best teams would be almost evenly matched, having gone through very tough competition to get to the SB, and thus the odds of OT seem to be more likely than what the records show.
However, the reality is that the 2 best teams don’t always meet in the SB, with injuries, coaching decisions, scheduling, off-field distractions,and playoff game prep entering into the playoff mix.
Add to that, the 2 best teams can often both be in the same conference or division. But it is what it is, and that’s what makes it interesting.
