Way to go! You could have added that our own census bureau—her boss—warns about giving stuff out on the phone and that she needs to abide by her own guidelines. Also, if you have caller ID, refuse to answer if that number shows up again, thus FORCING them to come by your house if they are legit. I’ve gotten to where I do not answer our phone if I do not recognize the number. If it’s that important, they can leave a message. Same with doorbell ringers.

In 2000 my husband and I got the long form. I put the number of people in the house and sent it back unfilled. About four months later a census work came to the door to help me fill out the form incase I did not understand the questions. A very nice woman, just doing her job. I explained that we did in fact understand the questions but were not going to answer them. She insisted we had no choice, I said we did have a choice and the choice was to not fill out the form. She thanked me, and before she left said her supervisor would be contacting me to answer any question we might have. Still waiting......

Forgot to add—go to www.anywho.com and you can type in the number she called from in reverse phone lookup. It may give you a name and location. It would be funny if it is some scammer, like a “Maria Lopez from El Paso.”

I just answered the “none of your business questions” with I can’t recall... Which in many cases was true. How the hell would I know what our electric bill or taxes are without looking it up?
My answer, 12 middle aged white guys live here....
