Several Republican senators, including Reach-across-the-aisle McCain, just this weekend have been espousing compromise and a new comprehensive health bill, etc. They just don't seem to learn.

You are mistaken. The “willingness to work together” talking point from the GOP is an election year strategy so that the MSM cannot brand us as the party of “NO.” We are not going to let Pelosi and Reid off the hook after being treated like bastard stepchildren for 12 months. We want to keep the heat on the RATS inability to govern, notwithstanding overwhelming majorities they enjoy in both chambers. It is also important that we appear calm and reasonable for the mass of independents.
