How about if New York and DC are taken out my Islamic WMD’s? Would you hit Mecca then?

Some President ought to announce that the day after something like this happens, Mecca will get nuked.

Ain't gonna happen in this country until at least January 20, 2013.

Oh, he’d hesitate alright. He’d probably term the incident a “tragedy”. And lob a token missile at an aspirin factory somewhere.

And he'd leap into action and pass emergency measures to protect Muslims. Including mandatory courses for everyone to understand what "true Islam" is.

I sincerely hope they don’t try this. 0bambi would have a terrible time trying to figure out who to bow to.

CANNOT POST THIS ENOUGH!!!

“As long as the Muslim population remains around 1% of any given country they will be regarded as a peace-loving minority and not as a threat to anyone. In fact, they may be featured in articles and films, stereotyped for their colorful uniqueness:

Nation % Muslim
United States 1.0%
Australia 1.5%
Italy 1.5%
Norway 1.8%
Canada 1.9%
China 2.0%

At 2% and 3% they begin to proselytize from other ethnic minorities and disaffected groups with major recruiting from the jails and among street gangs:

Nation % Muslim
Denmark 2.0%
United Kingdom 2.7%
Germany 3.7%
Spain 4.0%
Thailand 4.6%

From 5% on they exercise an inordinate influence in proportion to their percentage of the population. They will push for the introduction of halal (clean by Islamic standards) food, thereby securing food preparation jobs for Muslims. They will increase pressure on supermarket chains to feature it on their shelves — along with threats for failure to comply. (United States).

Nation % Muslim
Switzerland 4.3%
Philippines 5.0%
Sweden 5.0%
The Netherlands 5.5%
Trinida and Tabago 5.8%
France 8.0%

At this point, they will work to get the ruling government to allow them to rule themselves under Sharia, the Islamic Law. The ultimate goal of Islam is not to convert the world but to establish Sharia law over the entire world. When Muslims reach 10% of the population, they will increase lawlessness as a means of complaint about their conditions (Paris –car-burnings). Any non-Muslim action that offends Islam will result in uprisings and threats (Amsterdam - Mohammed cartoons).

Nation % Muslim
Guyana 10.0%
India 13.4%
Israel 16.0%
Kenya 10.0%
Russia 15.0%

After reaching 20% expect hair-trigger rioting, jihad militia formations, sporadic killings and church and synagogue burning:

Nation % Muslim
Ethiopia 32.8%

At 40% you will find widespread massacres, chronic terror attacks and ongoing militia warfare:

Nation % Muslim
Bosnia 40.0%
Chad 50.1%
Lebanon 59.7%

From 60% you may expect unfettered persecution of non-believers and other religions, sporadic ethnic cleansing (genocide), use of Sharia Law as a weapon and Jizya, the tax placed on infidels:

Nation % Muslim
Albania 70.0%
Malaysia 60.4%
Qatar 77.5%
Sudan 70.0%

After 80% expect State run ethnic cleansing and genocide:

Nation % Muslim
Bangladesh 83.0%
Egypt 90.0%
Gaza 98.7%
Indonesia 86.1%
Iran 98.0%
Iraq 97.0%
Jordan 92.0%
Morocco 98.7%
Pakistan 97.0%
Syria 90.0%
Tajikistan 90.0%
Turkey 99.8%
United Arab Emirates 96.0%

100% will usher in the peace of ‘Dar-es-Salaam’ — the Islamic House of Peace — there’s supposed to be peace because everybody is a Muslim: Nation % Muslim
Yemen 99.9%
Afghanistan 100.0%
Saudi Arabia 100.0%
Somalia 100.0%

Of course, that’s not the case. To satisfy their blood lust, Muslims then start killing each other for a variety of reasons.”

we didn’t think they could develop nuclear bomb capability in the third world either—and it takes a lot more sophisticated technology than biologicals.

To me, it is whistling past the graveyard to think that over a number of years they couldn’t manage to develop or buy some bio-warfare or chem warfare capability. Maybe not in the caves of Tora Bora, but in a lab in Pakistan.

Remember the old adage about an infinite number of typing monkeys will eventually come up with Shakespeare.

Unfortunately, we have to conduct a politically correct war where if we hit women and children we are open to condemnation.

OTOH, the Terrorists don't give a damn who they kill over here.

Apples and oranges. A Nation can develop just about anything. Even backward, totalitarian regimes like North Korea can do it. A terrorist group in caves without the shield of government....not so easy.

Please do not underestimate the complexities involved in home growing these types of weapons. If those jokers had acquired a nuke, or a canister of VX, they would have used it.

No government, not even one that hates us like Iran, would provide advanced weaponry to a terrorist organization. The US would track it back to and hold responsible any government that would do so. Our boomers can reach almost any point on the planet.

These guys are desperately trying to generate headlines. Their attempts are being thwarted at every turn, and for the most part their command structure is completely compromised. Only an out-of-left-field actor has gotten through, and after that, things are going to get a lot harder for them.

That said, I think that we will see more attempts to attack the US, and it is a horrible possibility that one might succeed. But I do not let the practically impossible possibilities worry me. Much easier to stuff explosives up ones butt than assemble a working nuclear device when you have a 4th grade education.

A nuclear bomb is 1940's technology. If you can do a vacuum tube radio, you can build an atomic bomb.

Where have you been? A Pakistani developed (or stole depending on your source) nuclear bomb plans. They have the bomb and lots of nutcases who might take over one day. North Korea has the technology and the bomb. Iran has the bomb underway and may have prototypes for testing within the year.

While I may agree that nations might well be more careful wth their WMDs & bombs than to sell or give them to terrorists, that is using the rational linear thought process of the West and not that of some fanatic that thinks he is the reincarnation of the 13th Caliph.

Of course it is easier to “stuff explosives up one’s butt” and they have no shortage of guys willing to do that in the short term.

However, the availability of short term measures doesn’t mean that more serious WMD options aren’t simultaneously being pursued. It’s a dangerously chauvinistic to assume that backward countries can’t have some Western trained scientists that are capable of producing biologicals.

Anthrax spores aren’t all that bulky and could be transported in similar fashion.

I have been right here, awake the whole time. I am fully aware of Pakistan’s possession of nuclear weapons. I am fully aware of the goings on in Iran as well.

I think we are missing each other here.

My point is that a GROUP, like Al Queda, is not a NATION, like Pakistan. They are not a government, and there are certain things that only a nation can do. Develop nuclear weapons are one thing. Not the sort of thing that you build in your garage. Develop biological weapons another. It takes more than a aquarium and a respirator to pull that off.

Chemical can be developed, but the needed technology, and special equipment to do so. Oh, and money. Lots of money. Money that would be better put to use sending Martyrs with PETN in their pants. The economics involved for Chemical weapons just don’t work for a group like Al Queda.

Rational thought really does not have much to do with nations passing WMDs to Terrorists. Fear of Trident MIRVs raining down should be enough. These clowns knocked down 2 buildings, and we invaded 2 countries. If any nation assisted in nuking the US, even the Hope and Change kid could not keep those missiles in their silos.

Even if they could line up a scientist to help, they need the facilities. They don’t have them. A ditch digger is useless without a shovel.
