Thank you so much! I really enjoyed hearing that song. He had such a beautiful voice.

Wiki has been pushing this for a while but I read an old article where Blocker talked about the house in Switzerland and that’s not what he said. That quote from wiki is all over the place and I haven’t seen any evidence that is true, he also owned numerous properties in other states, a yacht in Seattle, Hawaii, Texas.
Here’s a link to an article where you can read what Dan himself said about the property in Switzerland. And beware Wiki-

That show was filmed so beautifully, I think around Lake Tahoe. Adam didn’t appeal to me, no fantasy, I always liked blonde guys, never liked guys with dark hair, eyes, or skin.

Not all the Democrats were evil repugnant people back in those days. Even President Reagan started out as a Democrat. Remember?

Not quite as you present it...this was the age of the democrats that voted to cut off funding for any further involement in Nam, which gave the green light to the Commies to finish off South Vietnam..

This was the age of McGovern, etc...there were ONLY a FEW good democrats, even then.

That maybe, but that's still not necessarily the same thing as wiki claiming he bought a house in Switzerland over Vietnam. The article I posted has Dan Blocker's actual explanation of why he leased the house, note he didn't say anything about Vietnam. Whether he opposed it or not, the story claiming he bought the house to run away over the war, seems to be some wiki user trying to put a modernized, dramatic spin on things. For starters if you read the article he only had it leased and didn't live there full time so that's one inconsistency right off the bat. Wiki is overrun with leftists trying to spin history to suit themselves. Blocker may have been a Democrat, but I've seen no evidence that he was of the barking moonbat variety that currently infests Hollywood. Every article I've read suggest he was pretty much a good ‘old west Texas boy. Whatever his views were he paid for them in combat in Korea.

Sad news...the last surviving member of the original cast. Always though Adam was a good balance for the show. Well written, directed, acted, and produced show... Bonanza is one of the greats!

the house the Cartwrights lived in on the Ponderosa is my dream home... my friends don't believe me when i say that, but i just love it... it's rustic with a hint of elegance...

I accept the correction regarding Dan’s home overseas...but the dems of the middle to late 60’s were just as bad as the ones we have today.

Reagan left them in the late 50’s / early 60’s.

Dan may have been a nice guy...but wrong to support dems....one of my growing up icons also has supported dems...Andy Griffith..I have a hard time understanding it.

He was the mature, calm one of the bunch. Rest in Peace.

yes... and i loved that he loved Shakespeare and poetry... his brothers didn't understand his appreciation for literature...

He was definitely different. They all were unique in their own way. I liked him a LOT though.

I was always attracted to dark eyed men, on the order of Sean Connery. So of course I ultimately married a blue eyed blonde! Go figure, LOL!

i went on to find out more about the characters yesterday... i learned that Adam was the only one of the sons who had a college education... he studied to be an architect and engineer... i had not realized that he was responsible for building their home--which i loved...

I didn’t know that either. I also loved that home. Gorgeous, Log home with strong, character type furnishings but...what else would we expect from the Cartwrights???
