They are all gone now. Part of my youth has passed away too.
Sad news...the last surviving member of the original cast. Always though Adam was a good balance for the show. Well written, directed, acted, and produced show... Bonanza is one of the greats!
I was madly in love with Purnell Roberts (Adam) when I was a teenybopper. He seemed dark and mysterious to me, and extremely handsome. He was the intellectual of the brothers. RIP Purnell, my childhood fantasy.
The 50s and 60s were the era of the Western and one of the reasons that I enjoyed them and got my BA in History!
RIP Y'All!
There seems to be some confusion over whether Pernell Roberts was the spokesman for Save the Children TV ads (or perhaps the Christian Childrens’ Fund). He was on camera asking for sponsorships of orphaned children in Third World Countries.
Does anyone know for sure? I always thought the guy looked like Pernell Roberts.
He was also the star of Trapper John MD.
RIP Mr. Roberts
Hoss and Joe, Adam know every rock and tree.....
Here in the West we’re livin’ our best.
Bonanzaaaa
......
Wasn’t Bonanza the first TV series filmed in color?
We chased lady luck, ‘til we finally struck Bonanza.
With a gun and a rope and a hat full of hope, planted a family tree. We got hold of a pot of gold, Bonanza.
With a horse and a saddle, and a range full of cattle, how rich can a fellow be?
On this land we put our brand, Cartwright is the name, fortune smiled, the day we filed the Ponderosa claim.
Here in the West, we’re livin’ the best, Bonanza, if anyone fights any one of us, he’s go a fight with me, Bonanza.
Hoss and Joe and Adam know every rock and pine, no one works, fights, or eats, like those boys of mine. Here we stand in the middle of a grand Bonanza.
With a gun and a rope and a hatful of hope, we planted our family tree, we got hold of a potful of gold, Bonanza.
With a houseful of friends where the rainbow ends, how rich can a fellow be?
On this land we put our brand, Cartwright is the name, fortune smiled, the day we filed the Ponderosa claim. Here in the west we’re livin’ the best Bonanza.
With the friendliest, fightingist, loving band, that ever set foot in the promised land, and we’re happier than them all.
That’s why we call it Bonanza...Bonanza...Bonanza...
Lyrics written by Jay Livingston and Ray Evans.
Every episode was a morality play.
I was a big Bonanza fan, Pernell Rest In Peace.
Rest in Peace.
“Hoss was my absolute favorite on Bonanza”
Sadly, Hoss was a left winger who actually considered moving to Sweden because we were fighting the commies in Nam.
Shocking, in that I thought he had accidentally shot himself in the 70’s and had been long passed.
Rest in Peace. I have been to the Ponderosa many times and always think back to my childhood.
