At a meeting today with a pretty politically
knowledgeable guy
— Kasich needs to take some pointers from
Pat Toomey in PA.
Consensus is that Kasich needs to have a more solid political organization — he just might win.

I think Kasich will have the support of the state GOP, which Ken Blackwell did not have. The Ohio GOP is a pretty lame party lately but they do have the bones of a good organization, now that the felons and lesser miscreants are mostly wearing orange jumpsuits.

I believe what you say. I live in Cincinnati I think Kasich has an excellent chance to win. He already made a wise move by selecting Mary Taylor as his running mate for Lieutenant Governor. She’s the only Republican statewide office holder besides the retiring George Voinovich and it might give him a little bump in the women’s vote. Kasich’s base in Columbus has been trending Democratic, but Kasich should perform well there. With the economy in the toilet pretty much statewide, Strickland is going to pay for it. Hopefully Kasich doesn’t screw it up.
