He adds that few journalists "have bothered" to get his side of the story, which has been ramped up in the last 48 hours by the Los Angeles Times, Politico, CBS News, MSNBC, the Atlantic, Media Matters for America and other sources.

It's a classic — and convenient — media frenzy.

"A lot of individuals want to get involved in the political process, in the organization of the tea party movement. And now we find that the news media is seizing on this, and extrapolating that the tea party is in trouble or divided," John O'Hara tells The Beltway.

He is the author of the new book "A New American Tea Party," and contends that tea party believers, while representing a spectrum of ideas, are united by the same motivation: the well-being of the nation.

"The press has tried to marginalize the tea party movement from the beginning. They recognize it as a potent political force, and they want to do it in. A little less than a year ago, these same journalists were dismissing the tea party as a 'fringe' phenomenon, not even worth their time," Mr. O'Hara says.

"Now they smell blood," he adds.

"Now they smell blood," he adds.

The blood is from the cuts the left has inflicted upon themselves. Soon they will be like the sharks in a feeding frenzy who start eating each other.

There are others with vested interest (David Keane, Erick Erickson, etc.) who want to discredit what they see as competition. CPAC has become little more than a social event for Beltway and East Coast Republicans in recent years. The fact that Mitt Romney has won the straw vote the past few years speaks volumes.

The future of the conservative movement depends on people willing to “walk the walk” rather than those who just “talk the talk.”

Having been involved with the first round of Tea Party events I don't remember any push for it becoming a Third Party that will challenge the Democrats and Republicans. It was just a bunch of Americans of all kinds who believed in four fundamental things.

1) FREEDOM. Sending the message to DC to stop treading on our God given rights and honor the Constitution as written.

2) CUT SPENDING money you don't have.

3) TAX CUTS. Want to revive the economy, let us keep more of our money, and make life easy for upstart businesses.

4) THE MILITARY We sent them on a mission, they know how to get the job done. Let them do it. And when they come home treat them as the heroes they are.

For the media, the Liberals, or even Third Party activist to turn the Tea Party idea into anything else is pure BS, and only designed to tear the conservative voters up into two opposing parties.

That media is describing the Tea Party movement as everything that it isn’t.
