Speaking at a retreat for House Republicans on Friday, President Obama defended his economic recovery proposals and called on Republicans to work with him to turn around the economy and implement other reforms in areas like health care.
The American people are tired of partisanship, Mr. Obama said at the Baltimore retreat, particularly in the current economic climate.
"I'm not a pundit, I'm just a president," he said, "but I don't believe the American people want us to focus on our job security, they want us to focus on their job security."
He added, "They didn't send us to Washington to fight each other in some sort of political steel cage match."

No go, Obama, the Tea Partiers have a choke hold on you that is making your eyes bug out wider than Marty Feldman's.
Tap out, Obama, it's your only hope.
Put your money where your mouth is, dude.
Extend the Bush tax cuts....for starters
I SMELL A RAT!!!
Gee, I wonder where the problem lies?
Put your money where your mouth is, dude.
Extend the Bush tax cuts....for starters
Then stop lying and stop talking down to everyone - the joke is on you, not us
Up until two weeks ago, the GOP had ZERO chance of affecting anything the Democrats and Obama did in Washington.
I’m curious as to why they invited the obammy to speak at their “retreat”. Personally, I wouldn’t want to breathe the same air he’s breathing.........let alone listen to him up close and personal. (I’d never make a good politician—LOL!)
Why did Republicans invite this guy? The media is in overdrive to spin this as a positive for Zero.
Churchill: “Never, Never give in.”
It was a mistake for the GOP to invite that snake into the tent.
If Obama would simply govern within the clear limits set by the Constitution of the Untied States, the problem would be solved. In other words, this problem will be with us for as long as Obama holds power over our country.
Hey I like a steel cage match. Is this guy for real? No, we’re not going to sing Kumbaya!
Why is he angry? He has massive Democratic majorities in Congress. He can do whatever he wants. What does he need the GOP for? What’s changed that he has to address the minority party?
Talk is cheap 0bamao. Your policies are all about job destruction.
Good question, considering I'm hearing no speaking, dialogue, but LECTURING to them.
I don't see the point of this whatsoever.
He knows full well that the can’t blame Bush forever. When he further craters the economy, he’ll need a scapegoat.
Except for one thing...keep your enemies closer theory. Get him on record..on tape...telling the GOP whatever the Bolshevik says..then use it against him.....
