One of my sons, a long hauler, was in the Tampa area Thursday and had 24 extra hours before he needed to head out for SLC - and could've visited family he doesn't see often.

However, he decided the better part of prudence would be to make a dash north in an attempt to get north of the storm and then head west.

He called me this morning, and was just skimming the very top of the storm - across northern Missouri.

Hundreds of truckers from his same company were trapped on 1-40 and 1-45, coated in ice on the closed roads. They'll be there for awhile and will miss their deliveries and a loss of drive time = $$$

I-40 has been shut down most of the day through Oklahoma and at one time was shut from the NM border to AR and then it has been shut down going east as the storm moves aross the central part of the Country.
