The drummer is the guy who hangs around with the musicians, right?

An annoying pastime? They only made you a multi-millionaire so you can go and play your passion. Being a starving musician may sound romantic, but getting over that “starving” part is hard.

LOL, I remember a Rolling Stone magazine cover from around 1980-82 with Jagger saying how he didn’t want to still be doing “Can’t Get No Satisfaction” when he was 40!

Then there's Steve Smith, usually known as the drummer from Journey:

I’ve never looked back, and often wondered just what I ever saw in rock music.

You should check out some of the good metal bands that are around. Iron Maiden would be a great start if you haven't already.

You might know what is the piece of classical music being played at the beginning of this Billy Idol video?

If it attracts girls like Devon I might have to get a copy.

Jagger turned 40 shortly after the date span you give. I think he actually said that back in the late 60s.

Most of the early rock stars could not fathom doing the rock gig for more than 3-5 years. Pop music fans were too fickle.

Rock music is for young dumb guys who want to get rowdy and chase skirt.

Eventually you get too old to rock. You have to conserve the energy for skirt chasing, so you switch to classical or jazz.

I’m not dumb and metal is the majority of what I listen to. The rest of it is reserved for space ambient and fusion/smooth jazz.

You may not be stupid but pop music is aimed at a very low intellect—let’s not fool ourselves. It would never succeed on a business level if it aimed for the cerebral.

The intelligent person can enjoy pop music as a guilty pleasure, sure—the same as a fit person can enjoy the occasional Cinnabon [TM].

It is, indeed. But not for me.

That pays the bills. That is the way I sometimes think of my job.

My job is annoying too after 40 years...you do anything that long it will become annoying...but I'd take his money compared to mine any day....and smile while at the drumkit too! :o)
