Sara Palin is hated by the left either for her policies or her "stupidity" or, more likely, both. I have been a supported of hers ever since she eviscerated Obama in her nomination acceptance speech. Yet I had strong reservations because she tuned me off when being interviewed. She was too verbose, superficial and repetitive. She was anything but intellectual. How many times have you heard her repeat common sense solutions, put the government back on the side of the people, get out of the way of private enterprise, lower taxes because the people know best how to spent their money and so on.
I now see this style as an asset.
Tell a lie often enough and people will believe it. So much more so for the truth. When you want to sell anything, you must brand it as "the best". It is immaterial whether it is or not. And while you are at it, brand your competition as "the worst". Selling is not appealing to the intellect but to the emotions. The same goes for winning elections. They are all about imaging and positioning. Is a candidate conservative or liberal, likable or nerdy or smart or stupid? Candidates understand this and campaign on broad stokes and not detailed policies. Being considered an intellectual is often an albatross. It did Adlai Stephenson no good.
Democrats know all about positive and negative branding. Throughout the Bush 43 presidency, they branding him as stupid or a cowboy, or a frat boy. They repetitively flaunted soundbites like "Bush lied, people died". Thus the ground work was laid for "hope and change". The "Messiah" had come.
Obama simply blamed Bush for the mess.

Yes, her constant chant of “common sense solutions” used to bug me, but I, too, saw that it was strategic. And look and listen now: every Republican is now saying “common sense” and even some Dems, including Obama, are using it in their speeches.
And don’t forget according to some here on FR - scum, a traitor, a socialist, and a Judas Goat../sarc off.
And a few others.........
:-)
The intellectuals who ponder and pontificate are unable to get to the simple stuff....I know folks like that, we all do...60 sentences to say: OK
Sarah Palin is brilliant and smarter with better common sense than anyone running for office, or currently in office.....She is also brave enough and dedicated to America and her people to STILL run and open herself up to criticism from dumb TV hosts and NY Times writers who have accomplished nothing in life but getting a job....no responsibility to the lives and fortunes of other, etc.....
Madam President has a vision and brilliance limited by their inability to see things in simple terms....
It's called common SENSE because it is both obvious, universal and CORRECT.
Slipping up!
The Palin hater 1%ers will find the thread soon, but if they address the article, they're going to, as usual, look petulant and dour.
Heck, even if they read and address the article they're going to look like that.......
Great FB post indeed. You can guarantee though that the LSM will studiously ignore it so having 1.24m potential readers and distributors on FB isn’t a bad fall back position. Expect the haters to zoom in with something really profound like ‘zzzzzz nothing happening here’. Seems to be a favourite.
If you think I believe Palin is stupid, you need to review my post history. That characterization is both wrong and uninformed.
Im simply disappointed that when she was asked specifics, she didnt give any. And Greta prompted her again, giving her another chance and she still didnt. These are the kinds of moments that make OTHERS assume she is stupid, which I do not believe for one second.

Oh YES She did, She did give specifics with Greta, like in her facebook months ago she talked about 4 basic things, two of them were here in the interview:
PALIN: I don’t know anybody who is not in favor of some kind of health care reform so that we can start getting our hands around the growing costs of health care. I think everybody wants to see that. But we want common sense solutions, Greta. We do want that **tort reform**...
VAN SUSTEREN: Like what?
PALIN: At least put it — at least put it on the table to discuss. **And we do want those lines that are barriers between states to not allow somebody from one state to be able to competitively get out there and look for a better deal on insurance in another state — why not have those on the table for discussion?**
And this is my point is that Republicans have addressed these. They have put these forward. And yet they’re not even discussed, not in those backroom deals, not in those closed door sessions that the Democrats and the lobbyists are engaged in. That’s quite discouraging for the American public, who is asking for these common sense, these market-oriented, patient-driven and patient-centered solutions to be discussed.

LOl! Nope it’s bright and sunny in the West Midlands today but -3 deg C including wind chill. How about you?
I couldn't agree more.
Thankfully, no polar bears on the ice floes yet.........
The conservatives always put themselves on defense when criticizing the opposition...drives me nuts. Sharks don't assume a defensive posture before they tear your leg off; neither should conservatives when confronting their opponents. Sarah's piece would have had more power had she deleted that first line.
It’s time to accept simple fact that Gov. Palin knows what she is doing (no matter how hard it is for some people). Sarah is not the President, Obama is! She is not even running for anything! It is ridiculous to expect from a private citizen immediate solutions for the enormous problems the country faces on many fronts. She doesn’t have the full weight of federal government behind her to formulate opinions and policies - Obama does! I agree: she is framing the debate, not allowing her critics to slice and dice her every word in their endless attempts to destroy her.
As for details, read her Facebook posts!
I agree, She doesn’t want to tip her hand right now. And, I imagine, like most conservatives, her answers would be, cut taxes, spending, get government out of our lives, etc. You know, the talking points. I wouldn’t give the press any fodder either.
Don’t forget Rush ghostwrote ‘Going Rogue’ and writes her FB posts.
Post #11 is brilliant. Go back and read it again. Thanks Frank
LOL - yeah I know. Sarah probably doesn’t actually exist at all.
