Tim Tebow, Gloria Allred, Scott Roeder, and a Catholic parish that caved to an abortionist

A potpourri of pro-life items today...

Feminist attorney Gloria Allred is crying foul over the much-hyped upcoming Tim Tebow Super Bowl commercial. Writes Bill Donohue of the Catholic League:

'Allred, who has not seen the ad, charges that when Tebow's mother was being advised by doctors in the Philippines to consider an abortion (she was on antibiotics for a pregnancy illness), it was illegal there to have one. In a monumental stretch, Allred reasons that the ad should disclose this information, otherwise it is 'misleading.'

'What is really misleading is Allred's duplicity. Several years ago, she represented Amber Frey in a case related to the death of Laci Peterson; Peterson's husband, Scott, was convicted of murdering both her and the baby she was carrying, a boy they named Connor. In an interview she gave to Hannity and Colmes on the Fox News Channel on June 5, 2003, Allred found it useful to her case to emphasize the humanness of Peterson's baby: 'And the fact that there are two individuals who are dead there, Laci and Connor, that has to be the most important consideration of everything.' For once, she was right.

Gloria is being a little disingenuous also. Even before Roe vs. Wade was so wrongly decided, doctors would perform a “D & C” in situations like this.

Hey, kiddo, you up early too I see? I was watching the Australian Open (live, 2:30 a.m.) on our new way-cool wide-screen TV (compliments of "Murph") in High Definition. Serena won (as usual, sigh) over the returning-from-20-months-off Justine Henin, but Serena really knows how to turn up the power when she needs to, so I have to give her credit on that score. Anyway, I forgot your exact screen name earlier and didn't send you this ping ... so take a look at this thread ... and let me know what you think:

Exactly! She is one annoying woman.

This is the problem with lawyers like Allred and Obama...they have no principles. They are perfectly capable of arguing either or both sides of an argument with a straight face and complete seriousness.

Allred spends most of her time chasing cameras.

My mom ws 40 when she was pregnant with me in 1956.
This was considered OLD to have a baby, and her dr. told her she had “very little time” to deceide if she was going to have me.
I assume a D&C was the procedure they were talking about.

I've always thought and I've always been told that good lawyers are supposed to be able to argue both sides of a case. That's what makes a lawyer good....knowing their $hite forwards and backwards.

Although that doesn't mean we have to agree with them on either side......

That also makes them particularly dangerous public officials, however.

Tim Tebow was born in 1987. It may have been illegal to have an abortion in the Philippines, but Roe v. Wade came down in 1973, so she could have done it on US territory.

Tebow was born 14 years after Roe v. Wade. What Allred is saying is that it was illegal to have an abortion in the Philippines.

Wow!

A great story to remind those who don't value life, that abortion is a haunting that will never end. (rightly so!)

Exactly! Allred is grasping at straws; I sure hope she doesn't get taken seriously by CBS; I'm very much looking forward to seeing the ad, and I don't believe it will be controversial in the least, but she's worried to "death" that people are going to see a nice "choice" out there that doesn't include killing your kid. Woe to Gloria; she's a pain in the ...

Glad you liked it; remember to post a comment on that thread if you don't mind. Mr. Grayson will appreciate it! He lives in Nashville, Tennessee, by the way, and is trying to get on Huckabee with another song he composed that is sung by another individual. I wish him luck (with Huck!).

The last thing the ‘pro-choicers’ will support is choice. Their protests about this television ad reveal their own doubts about the morality of their position.

Very good point. If this kind of procedure had been illegal in the Phillipines at the time, then why would a doctor be recommending it to one of his patients?

You are right, of course. I meant that here in the US before RvW, doctors would still perform a D&C for medical reasons - and for some “privileged” few - for other reasons. I assume that the same would have been true in the Philippines.

Oh, there's always the D&C that can be used if a baby is deemed "unhealthy," (which, by the way, was recommended to me when the doctor said my daughter would most likely have Down syndrome). Also, one can travel to the United States to have the "procedure" done. It will be interesting to see what the Tebows have to say about it. I haven't read anything in that regard as of yet. And I hope a disclaimer doesn't have to be run during the ad, like Gloria is demanding be done. I hope she doesn't have a case in that regard. Pro-aborts have an evil streak that cannot be denied.
