The Berkeley (CA) Board of Education will consider, at its February 3 meeting, whether or not to cancel before and after school Science Labs for Advanced Placement Science classes at Berkeley High School because the classes are attended largely by white students. The proposal is aimed at addressing "Berkeley's dismal racial achievement gap"
According to published reports, the proposal to cancel the science labs and re-allocate the money for five teaching positions to an unspecified program of "equity grants" to help struggling "minority" students comes from Berkeley High School Principal Jim Slemp and the school's Governance Council.

If you're a part of certain minority groups, the message is that you don't have to work hard because you're owed and if you fail then it's just fine because it must be someone else's fault.
This liberal mindset is the exact opposite of a recipe for excellence.
If the liberals in California created the Census, they would have two racial categories: Whitesandasians; and Blacksandhispanics.

40 years ago I was a graduate student at UC, Berkeley and my faculty advisor used to teach really advanced chemistry classes at Berkeley High. I still remember the day he told me that he was being forced to quit doing that because there were “too many Asians” taking his class and not enough Blacks.
Political correctness is robbing the US of its future scientists.
I hope the parents pull their kids from the school if it does this. It is nutty.
Was Arthur Jensen there then? That would have been about the time he got protested for his Harvard Educational Review article?
Besides, almost every College campus in ingrained with PC thought, and the faculty are aspiring commissars of the next Soviet...
At least at Berkeley he won't be blind-sided...

Yeah, well recent research shows the importance of top students to macroeconomic outcomes. This will hurt the US if it spreads.

It is more "important" for a group to arrive at an answer by "concensus", even if the answer is wrong - than it is to get the right answer through "individual achievement" ...

No because in their cultural marxist outlook whites are an oppressor group who benefit from their privilege. So if they’re unequal in some areas it is there own fault.
