Law enforcement training and policy has seemed to turn their priority away from serving the public to protecting themselves and their colleagues.
When I see film of six or eight cops with guns drawn and pointed at a postrate suspect, often innocent, on his stomach on the ground I wonder how many people get accidently killed by a weapon going off in such situations. Such policies promote the “because I said so” attitude by many LEOs and leads to grannies getting slammed to the ground and hand cuffed.
I don’t want LEOs taking unreasonable risks but the job is one of reasonable risk. That is what they sign up for. Now many departments demand minimal risk along with minimum consideration for the public.
