Obama as College Hoops Analyst
MSNBC First Read ^

Posted on 01/31/2010 6:20:33 PM PST by boughtwithaprice

From NBC's Domenico Montanaro President Obama made an appearance as a third CBS commentator at the Georgetown-Duke men's college basketball game here at the Verizon Center.

The president looked like he was having fun, joked that he was coming after Clark Kellogg's job and about his appearance at the House Republican Conference on Friday.

After showing the 2008 footage of Obama playing with the eventual National Champion North Carolina Tar Heels, CBS play-by-play man Verne Lundquist asked, "Mr. President, you're a left-hander, do you have any trouble going to your right?"

Recognizing the double entendre in the question, Obama said (loosely based on quick notes): "I can go to my right now and then. I went to the House Republican caucus the other day. But there’s no doubt I have a stronger left hand."

No doubt.

Pundits pondered what George W. Bush might do post-presidency. One prevailing idea is that it wouldn't be shocking if he became commissioner of Major League Baseball, considering his former part ownership of the Texas Rangers and his all-around love of sports. (Anyone who watched the Dallas Cowboys in the playoffs saw him sitting in owner Jerry Jones' box and exchanging an elongated, adapted version of a hybrid high five and hand shake.)

Obama gave some hint as to what he might do post-presidency.

"After retirement I'm coming after your job," said a smiling Obama, headphones on, to Clark Kellogg, who Obama lauded as the best color commentator in college basketball. "You’ve either got three more years or seven, so you should make plans … because I’m going to do some play by play."

Heh, heh. It would've been funnier than hell if the crowd started chanting, "Three more years! Thre more years!"

Yeah, right. Is there room in a broadcast booth for a teleprompter?

Barry is a complete failure! As a Senator, President he is a perfect example of someone totally devoid of he's surroundings.

I'll be the first to not offer a fire extinguisher.

Barry is in his element playing basketball and talking about basketball.
He obviously spends an enormous amount of his time playing basketball, talking about basketball and watching basketball.
He can recite the most obscure stat and knows the history of every player.
You don’t get this way casually watching games in your rare few minutes of down time.
It is mind boggling that the Commander in Chief and President of the United States has such enormous free time to spend on leisure activities.
Either Barry is completely derelict in his Constitutional duties and/or someone else is making all the executive branch decisions.

Nobody gets the irony here: Obama is for all practical purposes, already IN his post-Presidency-—, all these little forays into celebrity-basking and the 170 parties and events are what he thinks the Presidency is all about, NOT learning about how to do the job.

I would be willing right now for Obama and Clark Kellog to change jobs. Or change jobs with anyone in the crowd for that matter.

0bama’s basketball prowess is way over-rated. Take a look at all of the pictures of him playing hoops...there is never anyone guarding him! Plus, any mediocre basketball player knows how to throw a ball, and the Kenyan throws like an old woman. He even rode the bench for his high school team, and that was in Hawaii!

Are you aware that the Prez uses a teleprompter and is able to speak about ANY SUBJECT at a moments notice? It all depends on how fast his operator can type. Barry only has to read.

What I wouldn’t give to have Barry try to drive the baseline against me. He would wish to hell he was still riding the bench!

Look at Barry’s hands after he shoots...NO gooseneck (or for the little ones ‘reaching into the cookie jar’).

I envision the Office episode (where Michael Scott challenges the Warehouse guys to a game to see who has to work on Saturday...) level of “play” on Dear Leader’s part.

I swear 0bozo is a faggot!!! No real man would throw that way (including his effiminate golf swing). I love the contrast on YouTube video that showed GW Bush throwing the first pitch vs 0bozo the effiminate clown.

This is a defense against the Supreme Court going after Obama. Nasty stuff, dangerous times.

What seems innocuous and cute right now is plays of desperation.
