S.F. benefit dance turns violent - 11 arrested (fundraiser for legal defense of protesters)

A dance party to raise money for the legal defense of student protesters turned violent in San Francisco early Sunday morning, as police arrested 11 people at a building South of Market.

Ten people were cited and released for misdemeanors, including public drunkenness, said Officer Samson Chan of the San Francisco Police Department.

A 23-year-old man remains in jail after police said he threw a large M-80 firecracker, barely missing an officer. He faces felony charges of aggravated assault.

Police went to 154 Seventh St. around 1 a.m. after neighbors complained of noise, Chan said, and the fire marshal couldn't get inside the party attended by several hundred.

When some started throwing bottles and firecrackers, "there was no other choice but to make sure this party was stopped," he said.

But partygoers said it was the police who turned violent, roughing up people for taking photos and asking to see a search warrant, said Kassia Korkus, 23.

"I feel they knew it was a politically motivated party, and that fueled their aggressiveness toward the attendees," Korkus said.

The party began as a way to raise cash for legal help needed by protesters arrested last fall at San Francisco State University and campuses of the University of California, where students occupied buildings to protest tuition increases and layoffs. Campuses have dropped most charges. But partygoers said they expect more activists to be arrested when demonstrations heat up again in March.

“But partygoers said it was the police who turned violent.”

Isn’t that exactly the script they always use?

“It wasn’t clear how much money was collected at the party, where many people paid up to $5 each to attend.”

LOL!

Bunch of high rollers, huh?

Another successful “fund raiser”. The only thing raised was their blood alcohol content

Most of these campus protests are organized by communist front groups such as the Workers World Party front ANSWER. They also organize most of the illegal alien rallies.

Nancy Pelosi cried about all the violence she saw in San Francisco in the 1970’s (Leftists, actually) when the Tea Party Movement came about last year.

Where is her statement now?

Liberal kids rioting against their liberal run educational Institutions that rip them off with huge tuition fees to pay off their unions! Of course its still Bush's fault and the liberal spoiled college children will still vote for their Dem overlords once again. Isn't nirvana wonderful?

I’m sure they raised enough to pay for a public defender...
