After a 20-minute drive into a federally protected stretch in Arizona, retired Forest Service employee Mark South points to an aging, four-strand barbed-wire fence separating the United States from its southern neighbor.
"See that fence? That's Mexico," South says.
"Seriously?" asks an incredulous Rep. Rob Bishop. "That's it?"
Moments later, after South opens a 3-foot-wide gate, the Utah Republican walks unimpeded onto foreign soil.

The visitor center in the park is dedicated to a US Park Ranger who was shot and killed by smugglers. A stark reminder that our border is not being enforced. Across the border you can see the Mexican villages from the top of the Coronado’s. You can barely see the border fence.
We need to get serious about border enforcement.
“Indeed, temporary Border Patrol checkpoints can be found on major roads about 20 miles or so from the border.”

“”Seriously?” asks an incredulous Rep. Rob Bishop. “That’s it?”

They ask me if I’m a US citizen and I say, “Yes sir”.
There were illegals from at least 72 countries, other than Mexico, caught in South Texas last year, Scotty.
I understand the problem. One can always make reasons for roadblocks anywhere in the country. Drunk drivers, dopers, whatever.
They should defend the border and leave american citizens on private lawful business on public roads, alone.
For now it’s easier to defend the highways than the 1200 mile Texas Border.
Come on down, Scotty.
