Because of budget cuts here in Colorado Springs, you may notice the city is a little darker. In an effort to save $1.2 million a year, 8,000-10,000 street lights, about 30 percent, will be turned off over the course of the next 10 weeks.
The first neighborhood affected will be in the southwest quadrant of the city. After they finish those neighborhoods, they'll move to the north and to the east. The bottom line is, all parts of the city will be affected.
Some are concerned it could increase crime. A city spokesman tells 11 News tonight the police department weighed in on what lights could be unplugged.
Those of us who grew up in the country don’t understand the obsession with street lights.
Replace them all, from the mayor, the city council, City Manager, whatever; City Engineer and Planning director; the Police Chief and the courts.
Replace them all with people who have no worship nor fear of "political correctness."
Does anyone doubt for a second that this is a naked "in your face" challenge to the people who pay all their salaries?
Act, or enjoy the government you deserve.
Why do you think the voters would ever do such a thing?
Just who do you think put these people in there in the first place?
No, when liberal plans crumble, it's never their fault or the fault of their beloved elites. The failure of their city will be blamed on the usual suspects: The Rich, Evil Corporations, Greedy Capitalism and/or Bush.
Liberals didn't come to power there by stepping over a conservative majority.
I completely agree, and for those that replace them, cut their salaries and benefits in half, an give them the same exact retirement pensions as those in the private sector middle class are getting, which in many cases now is "none."
You seem to be suggesting people that enter government don't become part of the insiders and corrupted. It's just the opposite.
No, when liberal plans crumble, it's never their fault or the fault of their beloved elites.
Isn't Colorado Springs run by Republicans?
I basically agree.

Take your time here.
Hello Chris????
I think you’re a light weight phony here Chris....Waddiay think?
If I’m reading you right Chris, you are directly blaming the voters for the betrayal of those in D.C. and local government level? Is that correct Chris?

Yes, the mayor of Colorado Springs is a Republican. El Paso County is heavily Republican and is a big part of our coalition in this state.

LOL!
Yes,
So what's up with that Mr. CT?
Then why are they acting like Liberals?
Of course they're going to whine about it a little, but that's just human nature.
Question #1. Did you see the title?
"Street Lights Turned Off To Save Money (Colorado)"
Are you suggesting cities and counties routinely shut off their night time lighting in an effort to save "Money" and this has nothing to to with Biggov/liberism?
You see nothing wrong with shutting down part of the "grid" in regards to lighting for "safety" as an excuse to reduce costs?
Take your time answering the above questions, as I have a few more for you in addition to those already directed to you.
Of course they're going to whine about it a little, but that's just human nature.
Those stupid tax payers....I'm sure those stupid slobs will whine about it, but will eventually get over it...Human nature an all.....
