Obama's visit to mark 70 years of Australia-US diplomatic relations

BARACK Obama will make his first official visit to Australia as president next month as part of a planned trip to Indonesia and the Pacific island of Guam.

White House press secretary Robert Gibbs confirmed the trip today, saying the President's visit was an important part of his efforts to broaden and strengthen partnerships necessary to advance US security and prosperity.

Mr Gibbs said that while in Australia, Mr Obama would commemorate the 70th anniversary of formal diplomatic relations between the US and Australia.

The President also looked forward to holding discussions with Kevin Rudd on issues including the economic recovery, climate change, clean energy, nuclear non-proliferation and the war in Afghanistan, to which Australia has committed 1550 troops.

If I were a gambler, I would bet he will say something inappropriate while in Australia that will alienate yet another friendly government. ;-)

Let’s see, it’s been a long January. February is going to long, too. Ø’s been “working too hard. He needs yet another taxpayer funded vacation. Oz is a nice place to take the wife and kids, along with several big gas-guzzling planes and several hundred hanger-ons. Sheesh, why not stay here and at least try to do the job he was installed to do. What a TOTAL waste of oxygen.

Since they’ve long been an ally of the US, I hope they realize they’re about to be urinated on.

While I am certainly no fan of Obama, I am glad he is visiting Australia.

The first US President to visit Australia in office was Lyndon Johnson. He did so twice (the second visit was a very brief one to attend the memorial service following the disappearance of Prime Minister Harold Holt). Following Johnson, there were no visits by Nixon, Ford, Carter, or Reagan. George H.W. Bush visited once in the aftermath of the first Gulf War, the first visit by a US President in over twenty years.

Frankly for a long time, US governments seemed to take the friendship and alliance with Australia for granted politically speaking. Clinton made two trips here, and G.W. Bush two as well, setting an apparent pattern of one official visit per term. I’ve been waiting to see what would happen with Obama.

As I have said several times before, Soros and friends told O that they would get him elected and then his (O’s) job was done. Just party on and let us (Soros and friends) run the country (into ruin). ;-)

Wasn’t ex-President Clinton visiting Australia at the time of the 9/11 attacks? Presumably there to rake in the dollars from speaking fees.

Another taxpayer funded boondoggle for this f__kin socialist-commie pig 0bozo!!! What a life this prick has! Disparages & demeans the U.S. his entire sorry ass life, than becomes pres____ent in a coup d’tat, and now lives high off the hog by the very Americans that he despises. I hope & pray every day that God will ruin this arrogant prideful SOB and take his mind from him, and cause him to eat grass like a wild beast in the field, as God did to Nebuchadnezzar about 2700 years ago.
