Tebow's Super Bowl ad isn't intolerant; its critics are
Washington Post ^ | 02/02/10 | Sally Jenkins

I'll spit this out quick, before the armies of feminism try to gag me and strap electrodes to my forehead: Tim Tebow is one of the better things to happen to young women in some time. I realize this stance won't endear me to the "Dwindling Organizations of Ladies in Lockstep," otherwise known as DOLL, but I'll try to pick up the shards of my shattered feminist credentials and go on.

As statements at Super Bowls go, I prefer the idea of Tebow's pro-life ad to, say, Jim McMahon dropping his pants, as the former Chicago Bears quarterback once did in response to a question. We're always harping on athletes to be more responsible and engaged in the issues of their day, and less concerned with just cashing checks. It therefore seems more than a little hypocritical to insist on it only if it means criticizing sneaker companies, and to stifle them when they take a stance that might make us uncomfortable.

I'm pro-choice, and Tebow clearly is not. But based on what I've heard in the past week, I'll take his side against the group-think, elitism and condescension of the "National Organization of Fewer and Fewer Women All The Time." For one thing, Tebow seems smarter than they do.

Fantastic article! So many great paragraphs, I can't pick exactly one out,but this one is great...

You know what we really need more of? Famous guys who aren't embarrassed to practice sexual restraint, and to say it out loud. If we had more of those, women might have fewer abortions.

“Tim Tebow is one of the better things to happen to young women in some time.”

#####

Indeed.

But it is not just his pro-life support that is favorable for women. While a single positive tiny drop in a very large cynically “sophisticated” bucket, his very public stance on chastity is also a very good thing for females everywhere.

Whether they know it or not.

Wasn't there an article a week or so ago that talked about some kind of gay facebook ad that would be run during the super bowl?

Where's the outrage about that? Kids will be watching the game. What do you expect they will take away from that sort of ad?

"It already has provoked "The National Organization for Women Who Only Think Like Us" to reveal something important about themselves: They aren't actually "pro-choice" so much as they are pro-abortion."

Better late than never, over at the Post.

Even Sally Jenkins finally gets it.

Tough, smart lady. A 'jockette'. Her sports background becomes her.

Sally Jenkins on Charlie Rose.

I love to see the pro-kill feminazis go ballistic over this wonderful prolife message.

Go, Tebow family!

Go, Focus on the Family!

Happy Superbowl everyone!!!

CBS refused to run the ad. They said they couldn’t determine that the group was real and that they couldn’t verify their credit, and they wouldn’t pony up the money.

"Just as I have the right to reject or accept them after listening -- or think a little more deeply about the issues" --Sally Jenkins. [emphasis: mine]

After reading this article, I find it hard to believe that Sally Jenkins is pro-"choice," but since she seems to need a nudge over to the pro-life side, I'll provide a few links for her to read if she ever crosses paths with this FR thread: Here's another good-looking guy for you to listen to on issues of life regarding today's election in Illinois.

And here is the same guy starring in the most incredible short film that I wish everyone would take the time to view: The Butterfly Circus

And here is a thread that let's you know how very painful the aftermath of abortion is, not just for women, but for men, too: A Dream A Lot Like Mine

Of course, I could leave oodles of links, but I've left three; one for the Father, one for the Son, and one for the Holy Spirit.

Thanks. I remember seeing the headline on Drudge but I didn't read the article. This is good news
