I watched a guy in a standoff with police in Santa Cruz California in the mid 1980s. The police sent in a Police dog and the guy shot the dog. About 15 Police officers opened up on the guy. Looked like he was doing St Vitus dance.

Just you wait CAIR (pronounced Kah-Ir) will whine that he shot the dog because dogs are considered “unclean” for members of the ROP and that the FBI was violating this man religious freedom by sending in a Dog to deal with the situation.
