CBSNEWS anchorwoman and 60 MINUTES contributor Katie Couric faces a dramatic pay cut at the network, insiders tell the DRUDGE REPORT.
CBS boss Les Moonves is determined to save money and trim expenses -- from top to bottom -- at the former crown jewel of broadcasting.
Couric, the highest paid TV news personality in history, commands over $14 million a year, plus bumps for non-EVENING NEWS appearances.
But her salary is now in the direct line of fire, network insiders explain, and a populist backlash against Couric's cash is said to be forming inside the newsroom.
"She makes enough to pay 200 news reporters $75,000 a year!" demands a veteran producer. "It's complete insanity."
The angry source continues: "We report with great enthusiasm how much bankers are making, how it is out of step with reality during a recession. We'll, look at Katie!"

Couric's $300,000 a week paycheck has become the obsession of disgruntled CBS staff, just as deep layoffs rock the fishbowl.
Dozens of employees -- including staff members in D.C., San Francisco, Miami, London, Los Angeles and Moscow -- are being let go, the NEW YORK OBSERVER reports.
Couric's current CBS contract expires next year.

You know, the network brass apparently never thought to ask 1) will people really watch our newscast just to see her, despite the lame, biased content and 2) what kind of audience would watch just to see her, the dim-bulb, marginally literate demographic perhaps? Chickens...coming home...roost.
I love it. I wouldn’t normally care; but, in this case, I’ll make an exception and cheer SeeBS’ economic decline(it’s deserved) and Couric’s expected cut. I hope all the MSM goes belly-up; but, Obuma will bail them out.
If they axed Couric and made Brit Hume their anchor, they’d get many more viewers.

Years ago, the CBS affiliate used to be the mainstay default position on our channel dial. Nowadays I have the whole network blocked from my television. Between their news department’s Obama cheerleading and scumbag Letterman’s rape jokes about Palin’s underage daughter, the whole rancid, hate-America network can go burn in Hell.
In that case, double her salary.

It’s insanity that they ever thought she was worth anything. Their rating started in the toilet and have regressed into the sewer. They’re laghing it up at Fox!!!!!
If they fired her and made PeeWee Herman their anchor, they'd double their viewers.
Take away KTs makeup and hair people. Don’t subsidize her clothing fund...Leave her with only one cameraman. She can pay for them all out of her own pocket.
