Corey OBrien, the Democratic primary challenger to Rep. Paul Kanjorski (D-Pa.), said the 13-term congressmans approval ratings are so low that theres no way he can win re-election this year.
OBrien, a Lackawanna County Commissioner, told POLITICO that voters are disenchanted with the congressman due to the regions struggling economy, Kanjorskis support for bank bailouts and the ethical cloud still hanging over his earmarks.
Kanjorski won reelection in 2008 with just 52 percent of the vote, racking up 18,000 fewer votes in his district than President Barack Obama. His 2008 opponent, Hazleton Mayor Lou Barletta, is running again this cycle.
There is zero chance Paul Kanjorski defeats Lou Barletta. Zero, OBrien told POLITICO in an interview. I may be wrong about that, but Im not good at negative numbers. Republicans are giddy about this race.

Absolutely. Lou came very close the last time...
Kanjorski rode Obama’s coattails in the final days of the election in order to beat Barletta. That will hopefully bite him in HIS coattails this coming election.
Lou Barletta—good man.
Worthy of our support.
