THEY ARE NOT GOING TO TEACH THEM ABOUT OUR REVOLUTIONARY WAR, DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE AND CONSTITUTION, OR THE CIVIL WAR. This is a deliberate effort to create ignorant dummies who know nothing about their liberty and why they have it. But they are going to each them about the robber barons. The people of North Carolina should be screaming bloody murder. The educators who thought this up and are planning it, that Rebecca Garland for instance, ought to be looking for another job. The North Carolina Board of Education is the responsible organization. Board members include the Lieutenant Governor, the State Treasurer and 11 other members appointed by the Governor. These elected officials should be held accountable.
“THEY ARE NOT GOING TO TEACH THEM ABOUT OUR REVOLUTIONARY WAR, DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE AND CONSTITUTION, OR THE CIVIL WAR.”
That is why all FReepers should maintain and expand our library of old history books.
Fahrenheit 451 was not fiction after all.
So, everybody, let’ get very vocal, give them our feedback, and give them hell....they shall not keep our children ignorant of our Founding Fathers, our country's values and beliefs, in this school or ANY OTHER SCHOOL. SPEAK UP NOW AND STOP THIS FROM SPREADING TO OTHER SCHOOLS.
If they are refering to U.S. History classes in High School, idk bout the rest of the country, or how other areas currently do it, but when I was in school (graduated in 1997 from High School), US History before 1860 was taught in 8th grade. US History from the Civil War onward was taught junior year. So unless there is something specifically darker below the surface, other than the start date, this strikes me in and of itself as nothing unusual.
You might want to read this excerpt/essay. It explains a lot.

can’t teach about the war for southern independence , a war where over a half millions died.
WTH .
maybe they don’t like some knowing the truth about the war at all.
this is just plain insanity and it’s high time we got organised like the left is and call these idiots who make these decisions.
Well, duh, we obviously can't teach people about the Civil War! That happened back when states thought that their association with one another was voluntary. Since it's been established with extreme prejudice that they're just administrative serf-pens for the almighty feral government, it's now safe to study them.
