Yeah, but wasn’t the point that they need to be seated close to the wall of the airplane for this to work? The amount of PETN is not enough to do damage unless it blows a hole in the skin of the plane so that it decompresses suddenly and blows apart. I’m not sure the lavatory would do the trick but others know better about the engineering involved here.

But my comments were premised on that assumption. Otherwise, I would agree. But that’s all the more reason why this method of bombing has a drawback—to inject yourself in public rather than in the bathroom draws attention and now, thanks to the Fruit-of-Kaboom bomber, suspicion and action.

If, however, the plane could be destroyed by detonating 4 oz. of PETN in the bathroom, then their method will work.

All kidding aside...And we have all had plenty of fun with the issue so far...

This is just 150 grams of PETN...Of which I believe from my novice opinion on structural and operating paramenters of commercial aircraft, seems to be sufficient to cause structural failure and loss of aircraft, crew and passengers; not to mention an in-flight fire that would eventually do the same if the aircraft was not initially damaged enough to cause a loss of control...

Considering the flexibility of using that amount if not more in a breast(s) implant, I am certain that amount there (and any additional amount) would cause an immediate destruction of the aircraft...
